Gove and his astonishingly poor grasp on reality

Breaking news: Wilfred Owen's poems next to be banned as leftie revisionist history. :p

Worth posting again:

His only criticism of using Blackadder to teach people has been that it promotes a view of the war (shambles, series of catastrophic mistakes) that are apparently myths peddled by Left-wing academics.

Criticise it for being a work of fiction if you want, or a comedy, but he hasn't done that. He sees the issue with Blackadder being that it promotes views that are also those held by Left wing academics.

I don't see anything else when I read that paragraph of his article.

Thing is, the facts -prove- it was a major cluster **** of mistakes for at least the first half of the war. Its not left-wing propaganda, or trying to belittle our 'supreme elite class' who were in charge at the time, its just facts.
Marching our soldiers through open fields, in high-visibility red-coat uniform, with old fashioned single shot weaponry? yeah, the only reason I think thats a mistake is because of my left wing roots :p

I'm not surprised really.

This coming from the guy who thought that he could throw out GCSEs in a year and failed, epically. What's his next idea? Blackadder?!?!?

But yes, he's a moron.

Whats more concerning is how quickly the right lap up everything he has to say.
Reading around online - the amount of hate directed at Blackadder all of a sudden you could be forgiven for assuming it generated as much controversy at the time of airing as say the Life of Brian did with the church.

People: Blackadder is amazing!
Gove: Its left wing propaganda!
People: Blackadder is a terrible waste of film! Burn it now!

Gove is an idiot and why does the chancellor look like the Antichrist!

We have a government who look like the cast from a Monty-python sketch, although a Monty-python sketch would make mare sense than they do.

The opposition looks like a Wallace and Gromit character. Lol. Not sure looks are a job requirement. :D

Gove is a moron, the man knows nothing about the job he's doing.

It's like hiring a butcher for a heart transplant, just because the butcher knows the right people and has some sort of "pedigree".

I've long thought the Tories are just trying to make a complete mess of public services so when Labour get in, the deluge hits and they really begin to fall apart, then by the time the Tories next get into power they can tell us "These things aren't working, Labour ruined them, we need to privatize them"

I cannot take Gove remotely serious.

If only your view was more widespread!

He's an idiot

I think Gove is actually quite smart; quite possibly exceptionally so. Unfortunately he's picked up the view that his opinions are a perfectly good substitute for actually knowing what he's talking about. He substitutes opinions for listening to anyone who actually understands what they're talking about and believes his brains are sufficient to know the right answer.

That's an extremely toxic position for a politician.

I'm pretty sure the requirement for the majority of MP's posts is they have to be the quiet strange looking and odd kid (male or female) who was relentlessly teased at school. This would make sense of the way whatever particular party takes the lead screws over everyone or annoys the hell out of people with some policies that make no sense.

It is the kid from school who was picked on taking revenge!

TBH it is generally the idiots that going around bullying so naturally the academic and intelligent take the brunt of that. I think picking up on looks is a bullying attribute and not particularly productive.

You're right of course, he's not an idiot - I should have said he doesn't have any common sense and is possibly in the wrong job.

To clarify; that was a satirical statement I made, I do not agree with bullying, I took a great deal of that when I was young at school because of my muscular dystrophy until I took up boxing at the pit gym, bullies don't like to be beaten.

Well done. I bet that surprised them! :D Not many stand up to bullies.

I do believe that he could be called an idiot because if a person does not have the good sense to apply their learning and potential properly they gain no advantage from their learning or potential capability.
