I use gatorskins and found them great. On my second pair covered a total of around 5k miles on them. So far only three punctures, pretty happy with that. I have read people say they are slippy cornering but I have not found it to be the case.

My other bike has GP4000S and they are excellent but expensive.

Cold this morning here but no chance of rain!

Won the handicap race at the weekend, go a little lucky on the handicap but rode really well.

Got to the half way point climb, left my group knowing I would climb quicker than them. Had one of the younger riders jump on my wheel near the top from a group ahead. Time trialled my way to the end with him sat on my wheel, he didn't come through to do a turn which I didn't mind as he didn't try to sprint me at the end. Managed to hold off everyone else to the end, winning by maybe 15 seconds or so from the group behind.

Averaged 38.3kmh over the 36km. That's a couple of km quicker than my last TT so I'm hoping for a good result this weekend as long as the weathers not too bad.

It's race season down here, with lots of pros turning out to race down in Victoria, Rapha team and some guys from the UK!

Three or four local guys racing in the road nationals this weekend and one woman.

Then week after is the TDU which again has some huge names racing, I'd love to see Cadel do well in it.

Well, my Softshell was finally defeated this morning, but an hour in that torrential rain and I can't say I'm surprised. Soaked to the bone...except my hands of course, good old Estremos!

Not cold though despite it all, so not unhappy at all.

Yes it was perhaps the worst conditions for my morning commute that I can recall. 20mph headwind and tipping it down the entire way. baselayer + berghaus vapour storm jacket kept my top half bone dry. Awesome bit of kit - didnt feel in the slightest bit clammy.

Rapha Hardshell weather!

I didn't go outside since I'm on compassionate leave and I don't have a replacement chain yet, but I did have a horrible time doing the "A Very Dark Place" sufferfest vid on the turbo.

Yeah I did wonder, the trouble is I would have roasted in the hardshell. It was almost 10 degrees!

Have told the wife that I need a Rapha Rainjacket..

You won't regret it :D.

Oh that reminds me. I may well now have found the answer to my cold toes. I realise that this winter has thus far been unseasonably mild, but it was pretty cold last week. DeFeet Woolie Boolies have kept my toes toasty warm. Remains to be seen below zero of course, but this is the first time in winter my feet have been comfortable cycling, and without doubling up sock layers too!

It was -2 up here on Sunday.
I was fairly warm (too hot really) but my bottles froze after about an hour :(
Feet were a bit cold. Had 2 pairs of socks on and planetx overshoes. I dont think extra socks help, it just makes my shoes feel even tighter around my feet and restricts blood flow more.

That's always been my issue. Summer socks are wafer thin whilst Woolly Boolies are massively thick.

I've now got a pair of shoes half a size too big for the winter so I can wear thicker socks without squeezing my feet.

I'm really not enjoying the weather this winter.

1) Are the stock 105 pads useless in the wet? In dry conditions they are fine, but they feel downright dangerous with any moisture in the air.
2) Any recommendations for a breathable, waterproof top? I have a dhb windslam blade, but unsure if that alone is up to the wet weather.
