Tories plotting to axe bus passes and winter fuel allowance for OAPs in new round of brutal cuts

I think its quite simple really.

Only the utterly braindead would vote for labour, students for the faux liberals, and the rest of us with a brain and a work ethic would vote Conservative and actually get this country back on its feet.

Obviously at the next election the mass of neanderthals will vote the Labour clowns back in just as we are starting to recover, and we are all back to square eins.

For sure. Labour and Milliband is going to be the saviours :D

I can't look at the guy without laughing.

I really don't like David Cameron and the Tories but they are all as bad as one other. Lib Dems are sell outs and Labour were of one of the reasons we are in this mess to begin with. Who is left? UKIP, BNP, Green Party?

I hate mentalities like this, genuinely hate them.

So people who have actually been successful in life then find they are penalised? Great incentive for doing **** all.

I hate mentalities like that. Just because someone isn't successful and hasn't earned a lot of money in their life, doesn't mean they did **** all. They probably worked their **** off for the little money they got.

Unfortunately pensions are a pretty large % of government spending. This is increasing yearly. This is not sustainable. What IS sustainable however is looking after your parents yourself rather than relying on the state.

I could say that about kids just out of school and not going to college, they just go and sign on(jsa)(depends on areas)

I look after both my mom and dad and 3 kids at the same time and can say I spend more looking after my mom and dad than I need to.

I'm not sure I agree with you there my friend. People have then own lives to lead and their own pressures to deal with. In an ideal world, yes, that would be the case. In the said ideal world people should take responsibility for their own retirement and not so heavily rely on government money.

They're crap too, but they're better than Cameron.

In politics it isn't about doing good, it's about damage minimisation.

Centralised governments are just crap, it's too many people with too many opposing views and too many conflicts of interest ruling over too big a piece of land.

Whatever you do it'll end up with the people being ass raped daily, but you might as well vote for the one which will do the minimal amount of ass raping. That certainly isn't Cameron, he went to Eton for goodness sake, ass rape is part of him now.

I doubt they would, why make winning the next election impossible by annoying the politically active elder population?.

I read the article & it doesn't seem to imply that's what they are going to do (apart from the headline).

Who is left (be careful you might start a spelling war again);)

David Cameron being a *****, shocker.

It's disgusting really, you work all your life then you get screwed out of everything you worked for in your retirement and left to freeze and walk on your bad hip.

I mean putting more old people in hospital is a completely stupid way of saving money, he's just preying on the elderly because they can't do anything about it, that, and he's a *****.

I'm glad in a way, at least they'll not get in the next election and we can have someone who, while being a bit crap, isn't a complete moron.
Oh dear.

Honestly? Nobody.

Which is why I don't bother to vote. It there were a viable party to vote for I'd be first in the line.

If a gun were pressed against my head and I was told to vote , I'd vote Tory. Or UKIP. Labour is just unimaginably horrid.

No, it's not that simple.

Many well educated & hard working people vote for political entities other than the Conservatives - but don't let that get in the way of your idiotic rant.

how are they penalised ? they worked hard or were fortunate enough to be in the right industry and made enough money that they don't really need state handouts.

whilst for other more unfortunate people the bus pass and winter fuel allowance could be a life saver.

maybe we should just kill anyone who worked minimum wage for the majority of their life once they hit 50 ?

all benefits should be means tested

It doesn't matter how much people go on about people on the dole, they're a minority in the welfare budget..

Most of the money goes to OAPs they could take everything from people on the dole and it wouldn't be enough..

It was pretty clear this was going to happen years ago.

You see there are reasons why there arent threads on Northern Irish politics, if threads about david cameron and his policies are like this, i dread to think what it would be like discussing the NI assembly

Are you smoking crack?

How would you inferr that from what I said?

Sorry quoted the wrong person I take it back.

I read on someones post that the young are the future and For one I don't see that being right.(well they are since they are young but their job sence is not)

But people are not means tested on poverty, they're means tested on wealth - you're inferring a second point that he didn't make. The government doesn't say 'you're too poor, you don't need support,' it says 'you've got more than we think you need, you don't need support,' often along arbitary guidelines.

Nobody is attributing somebody's lack of wealth to being a lack of value.
