Tories plotting to axe bus passes and winter fuel allowance for OAPs in new round of brutal cuts

Sorry quoted the wrong person I take it back.

I read on someones post that the young are the future and For one I don't see that being right.(well they are since they are young but their job sence is not)

Where has this attitude to young people come from? Have you been mugged by a drug dealing, workshy 20-something?

I am in a area of the west midlands that sees this every day. where I live you would think they was making a film with all the yobs and dealers.

They should have made that program on channel 4 called "benifits street" in my area.

Who else is wondering if the OP, whitetop, is a pensioner? Their username might indicate that.

Don't start again.

I'm not a OAP, I am a very uneducated 27 year old that had to learn himself reading and writeing due to the perants his looking after was to busy making a living on 50 pound a week,

They need to think this through properly, it should only affect well off pensioners, we cant have another 30k old people dying, its not right..

This has come up on question time and even the pensioners said they were ok about not having certain benefits..

I think its fair that the government wan't to balance the books but totally unfair they want everyone to pay for the banks **** ups.

I'm not trying to start anything honest. I was under the impression everyone had to go to school.

In fact I congratulate him for teaching himself to read and write I was just interested. Nothing nasty intended.

Question, why the hell should they NOT means test these pensioner benefits?

Those who can afford to pay for them shouldn't get them for free. I have to pay for my bus-pass to work, even though it eats away 1/4 of what I get after I pay my bills. But it means I can afford it, it just makes working a bit less worthwhile.

If you genuinely run out of money at the end of the month as a pensioner, then you'll of course need it.. same for the winter fuel allowance. But it shouldn't be given for every pensioner living in a 4 bedroom house by themselves if the house is worth 500.000. Sell it and move to smaller, that's what a working person would have to do.

Same rights for everyone.

to the low lifes that don't have a real job and like to take judgement on peoples very poor spellings do not reply as your lifes are better else where.

First..hahahaha what, you can't go attacking people and assuming they don't have a job because you don't make much sense.

Second...A multi millionaire whom also is someone who makes the rules wants to take more money away from the poor and the frail so he can keep his pockets lined. I won't re-elect him, tax and make the rich pay some more they have enough money. You are going to end up with many more people extremely ill or dead thanks to some rich ****head wanting to heat his 3 mansions and keep his stupidly expensive to run cars filled with fuel.
Feeding on the most luxurious food wearing the most expensive cut of clothes, Laughing round the table at how they have managed to fleece us yet again.

By the time we grow up to be of pension age (Which may continue to rise!) There will not be a pension or help, It will have been stripped away long ago.

hang on, I'm 27,
Went to a free school,
Both parents worked,
Still learned to read and write around age 5.

I still don't understand why you hate the youth of today so much

I don't know why people are worrying about what Cameron and his tory buddies think.... they wont be in control of anything after the next election. My parents are lifelong tory voters and they wouldn't even speak to him in the street now.

I really think UKIP might make big gains, simply because they are the only party that the majority of people don't HATE with a passion, and because they are "due a go... cant be as bad as the others surely"

Should be an interesting election that's for sure.

I will vote UKIP for one reason, no one else deserves my vote.. they are proven liars and scumbags. If UKIP mess up ( as im sure they will do ) then that's fair enough... it will just prove that all the paries are as useless as each other.

On topic.

I agree with you. as you are saying(I think) if you have the money to live in high standards houses then really you should not be taking so much money from the pot.

I can say my dad has 124 pounds a week now this is from a poor background.
he pays.
10 on gas
10 on electric
20 on food
them tv licence.

With the council not moving him from a 3 bed house to a flat or bungerlow he has to pay bedroom tax.

My wife visits people every day who are living in one bedroom of a 5+ bedroom house. Old age pensioners who in some cases got the right to buy, and paid ~£10,000 for their council house that is now worth £500K+. Where's this affordable housing now? OAPs hard done by? Give me a break. Successive governments do whatever they can to appease the ageing generations (baby boomers and oaps) because they're the only group that vote properly.

So the state messed up your education and its going to mess with your future, i can see why you're upset about it.

If Labour spent all the pensioners pension on wars and tory have to have to claw it back from them again, who is in the wrong ? this **** should be on rouge traders.

Labour played a massive part in wasting public money, i don't think its right that pensioners should feel the brunt of balancing the books but the only other way around this would be to tax even more..

But the government needs growth and they'd not get much of that if they upped tax and sent us back into a recession..

I guess the only way is to attack public services ?

Universal payments for bus passes and winter fuel should be cut completely and money targeted at pensioners who actually need them rather than paid automatically to everyone, rich or poor.

It's a sensible move. There's far too many people around who see "Tory Cuts Bad" headlines and join the outrage bus without thinking about things sensibly.
