lost wheel nut key

Have you checked to see if you left it in the wheel nut brace? They normally fit pretty snug and are not always obvious

I know after much panicing I have found mine left in the brace on more than one occasion :(

yes, reckon I left it on the wheel nut

Not read the thread but when it come to changing tyres on the VXR, I realised the previous owner forgot to tell me he had lost the locking wheel nut key.

Rang Vauxhall and gave them my chassis number and they found the locking key I needed, then tried to sell it me for £35 so I lolled them off the phone. Put a picture of one of the locking nuts on vxronline and a guy (trader) on there matched it up and sent me one out for £10.

I did this with my DC2. Honda tried all their tools, nothing -_-

I eventually got them off with bolt removal tool (I think it was Later branded).

I'd you're really worried about your wheels then have a Google around for services which specialise in this. I found a guy that would do it for £50 with a guarantee of not damaging your wheels. Not sure what his method was but might be worth a look.

Just take it to Jag. They'll have all of them. Or give your chassis number to them and they'll sell you a new one

spoke to jag, they have master key but can't get new keys so will be new bolts etc

the original fault with the valve falling into the wheel seems to be a known issue with the housing for the TPMS breaking up, they are , very slowly, talking to the warranty company to see if covered, not sure what will happen if tyre is trashed

That's good news that Jaguar have a master key. I know you don't want to chuck them away but count your prayers it's not a Peugeot which have similar locking nuts to those, because they DON'T keep a master key and they're a REAL bitch to get off. You have to shear that end bit off and either drill them or weld a big nut on the bit left behind. I couldn't find anywhere who could get them off with tools because of the shape of them and had to resort to the welding method myself. Just take it to Jag and let them do it :p

Mostly sorted

They removed the locking nuts and replaced them woth a new set and key, parts were ridiculous at £87 but offset by the fact they didn't charge any labour

the TPMS module was replaced under extended warranty

it needs a new tyre as they said the sidewalls were damaged, usual black powder on inside job, I am having this fitted tomorrow as they don't deal with Michelin
