Woman in London wearing a niqab stalked friend before throwing acid in her face

I don't care about those face coverings except that I think they look ridiculous, but what is LOLworthy on this thread is the absolute hysteria provoked by the OP.

"Ooo ban him" "racist!" "hooray for Muslims!"

Really?

Why are so many people so mega-eager to prove they're not racist?

Surely a reasonable response would be to ignore or laugh. Why all the panty wetting? You're not even impressing each other as people who carry on like that are too self-absorbed.

It's to do with the fact that anti-religious and anti-Muslim threads come up here time and time again. A lot of this forum is very anti-Islamic and anti-religion in general and people are quick to cement their stance one way or the other.

There are many strong opinions here about religion and it always ends up in a mess. These threads contribute very little but negativity.

Maybe posting why in the OP would be a good thing?

Why? The reason he was banned has nothing to do with this thread, he was a returnee, leave us to deal with the moderation whilst you enjoy the wide variety of eclectic posts that make up these fine forums

People are scared of that which they don't understand or which they can't control.

I like burqas/niqabs and would encourage that they stay.

The OP didn't even have a point.

Do you feel it would be appropriate for people to be allowed to wear crash helmets, balaclavas, ski masks, or other items of clothing which conceal their identity in environments where security is a concern?

E.g. in a bank, airport, school, etc?

I did read that this did actually happen in Pakistain a few years ago. I thought it was a good idea

It's a terrible idea. Where does it end? You jest.

Come on man, tell us who it was!!

Sure.

Fair enough - as long as you're not condoning double standards based on race/religion then that's a perfectly valid position to hold :p

I think it's absolutely fine for girls to go round wearing face veils [and it's kind of hot]. If they are asked to take them off and they refuse then they can be ejected politely.

If it's the case I read about, she didn't go through with it and never intended to. She just wanted to make him sure that she was going to, so he'd suffer from the anticipation of it and know for the rest of his life that she could have done it and that it didn't happen only because she showed mercy because she was superior to him.

Whilst I have no opinion on if headwear should be banned, let me put this out there.

1. Many shop's don't allow you to wear bike helmets inside.

2. If someone had been walking around in a full bike helmet as a disguise, would bike helmets be banned in public by now?

Call me cynical but I doubt the OP wants to ban the burka on the grounds of female oppression or even the security of the population. If this was the case he (along with others in the thread like him) would be regular paragons of equality & safety in issues outside of this (which clearly isn't the case.)

If anything it's mostly the mildly racist sexist bigots with little regard for their fellow human being who jump on this bandwagon - which to me implies ulterior motives.

Should the veil be banned?, I honestly can't say - I strongly believe others should have the right to wear what they want, conversely they can often be used as tools of oppression against the female population. Which action results in the highest net human suffering currently is unknown as far as I'm aware.

Either way the discussion will be more fruitful without the contributions from people just hate 'muzzies'.
