I was just considering a little January purchase of a new monitor.

Want to move to 1440 and was considering:

While I was looking at dell monitors in general I noticed a planned early 2014 low cost 4k monitor:

I was curious if anyone had heard much about it or a more firm eta?

Basically when Maxwell hits Ill get a new GPU to power what ever monitor I end up with.

Priced at under $1,000

So it will cost £1k in UK ;)

For this kinda wong its an impressive 4k screen, but would rather much see them get a 120hertz 1440p Screen VA/IPS panel, if this dell was 120hertz would make it worth it even more.

Now that's the sweet spot for a monitor @ 120hertz 1440p*
BUT will it ever happen?

When I see a 27" 1440p VA 120/240hz screen... Take my money now. Hopefully we will see those and then in maybe 5 years an OLED version. 4k at that size seems a bit pointless unless you can afford 3 x high end graphics cards as well.

1440@120hz... been there done that.

What I want now is a 4k monitor with a strobe backlight/LightBoost hack to eliminate motion blur. Has to be IPS or OLED though, no way am I going back to TN/VA panels.

is there any 4k screen with G-SYNC>?

They will be available, but not as soon as the 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1080 models (which will be coming during Q2).

And to add something else to this thread, in case it hadn't been worked out yet... The Dell P2815Q will use a TN panel. ;)

Reports today say it's an IPS LED panel

As far as I can see that is just guesswork, nothing has been confirmed by Dell and they haven't issued a press release. If you look at a the specifications for the Philips 288P6 it uses a TN panel. The only known 28" 4K panel at the moment is TN. It just doesn't add up that this would be cheaper yet use a superior panel. I would love to be wrong about this, but don't be disappointed if I'm not. :)

Hmm £499 maybe then..............Mines worth £350 on ebay minimum lol I'd totally trade up for one of these............2 less inches though.................I already struggle to read text from a meter away.
