As one darts championship ends, we roll into another! The BDO's version gets underway at 1.30 and it could be a cracker between Alan Norris and Scott Waites. This year sees preliminary rounds introduced for the first time, of which there are 8, Martin Adams has to play David Cameron (no, not him!) in one of them.

Bookies odds for the title:

Bunting 9/4
Waites 10/3
Wilson 9/1
O'Shea 12/1
Harms 16/1
Green 20/1
Kist 22/1
Fitton 33/1
Dekker 33/1
Durrant 40/1
Jennings 66/1
Montgomery 66/1
De Graaf 66/1
Robson 66/1
Eccles 66/1

80/1 or above the rest. Robbie Green could be a decent punt at 20/1.

Are they still persisting with that dreadful stage and electronic scorers? I almost couldn't bear to watch some games last year - the referee seemed barely out of short trousers and there were so many scoring mistakes it was getting beyond a joke.

Interesting interview with Waites on BBC Sport if anyone fancies a chuckle. I honestly thought he'd have given the PDC a whirl by now but he seems strangely reluctant to even consider it.

Perhaps he'll think about it again now, what with his early exit from this year's tournament.

Ah yes, they are going with the same format. Not keen, if I'm honest.

But at least they're using dart boards that look like they'll last to the end of a match, unlike the Unicorn equivalents. What's this Dual Core business, then?!

Didn't Waites turn down a tour ticket from the PDC?

Not so keen on this tournament, massively worse in quality compared to the PDC.

Any players who reaches the semis is not 'allowed' to switch to the PDC, if they do they forfeit all prize money.

just stuck this on and i'm being "treated" to a women's match. i can't believe the commentators are waffling on about all the great success the players have had in previous tournaments and completely ignoring the fact the players are barely scoring 20-30 points with 3 darts. :(

edit: wow, i just saw 2 x 140s. i take it all back. :p
edit2: this really is beyond dismal. i'll try again later. :/

I can't get as excited about this as I did with the PDC over Christmas. Doesn't seem to be as much talent? Not sure.

The trebles and doubles on the PDC boards are slightly bigger than the Winmau boards. Usually why BDO players fare pretty well in the Grand Slam as they're used to aiming at smaller trebles.

Averages in this around the 90s in pretty decent. It's when you have players averaging 76 that just don't cut it at any level.

Alright Daz :D

Bunting should win it, wouldn't surprise me if Wolfie or Green are in with a shout either. Eccles is playing well too, when he lets go of the dart .

E: Oh and Norris at an outside bet.

I met Wolfie Adams at a trade show a couple of months back.
Lost a 301 to him- I got to a finish first, hit a few trebles on the way, so he beat me with treble-17 bull for a 101 outshot. Not bad given I hadn't played darts for about ten years...
Bought a set of his endorsed darts off him, and he signed the pack for me.
Top bloke.
And he's on great form this year. Him and Bunting for the final, IMHO.

Evening. *doffs cap*

You've tipped about half the field there :p - I backed Norris last year at 66/1 and he lost 4-3 in the second round. Looking fearless atm.

I've met him before too, such a nice bloke. Quite happy to stand and chat to you for as long as you liked. My mate's dad beat him at a 701 leg by checking out 5 by going d1, 1, d1. Wolfie didn't know he was a county player and expected to roll everyone on the night. He lost to a 9 year old that night too, I played against that kid a few months ago.. damn he's got some talent. Hits a minimum of one treble a throw and he was on about giving it up. I told him he's got serious talent and must keep at it, he could seriously go far.

Ye but Green is playing Eccles in the Quarters :P (and Eccles losing atm)

If you want a definite shout, Bunting v Green Final, Green will win it.
