6GB 780Ti confirmed

I fully understand state tax etc... Just saying in Europe as far as I've seen as I travel throughout it many many times a year that England is the most expensive that I have seen to date and not just electronics but in general.
Anyway again this is off topic.

Yes, but that isn't the same as "rip off Britain". You say you understand it but the original statement suggests not. A straight comparison between prices in different regions is fallacious because you're not taking into account the different conditions in that region.

You say it's off topic but then respond anyway :p. Don't worry about it then.

Last response :p

I live in England 6 months of the ear and my bank balance is a lot lighter than when I live on the mainland Europe for the same amount of time doing the same things i.e paying bills, Travel, Food etc...
That's what I mean by ripoff Britain.

lol 6GB, big deal, it's not a if it's gonna give you a substantial FPS increase over a 3GB card. Just another way for Nvidia to nickel and dime the consumer as with all the GK110 cards. Roll on maxwell.

Sounds good but not really needed if your running 'normal' resolutions.

At least it will shut the AMD fan boys up always saying how much better the 290's are due to more VRAM.

To be fair I don't think any of the usual culprits have ever said the 290 is better because of it's VRAM even in 4K debates. It's normally due to early reports of how much better the pacing is at 4k. Whether there was any truth in it probably won't matter for long. Plenty of time for drivers to iron that out.

Also this is the only source thus far, it might not even be true lol. There's every chance it could be but there's very little anywhere else on it. It could also be a case of somebody getting their wires crossed with the 790GTX being prepped as it's set for a Feb launch. As someone has already said, this is the same news site that said only very recently:

Finally, our source also says that you can expect the Geforce GTX 790 anytime in February. Also there is word in the air that Nvidia is deciding against a GTX 780 Ti 6GB.

This will be a good card for those who skipped the 780Ti 3Gb, but no point if you already have a 780Ti

Few of these 6gb in 2-3way SLI and you're covered for a long long while.

If you think about it its such easy money for Nvidia. All they have to do it unlock all the CUDA cores on the Titan and ship it off.

Imagine if the Titan had been unlocked from the start, there would be no need for 780ti or this rumoured 6gb 780ti. Clever clever marketing.

Not strictly true as the Ti has much better PPL and VRM power circuitry which is probably a large part of the reason why they clock so very well. Titan's don't tend to be great clockers. One of mine would barely see 40Mhz on the core over stock.

What you're implying would be the case if and when EVGA release the 6GB GTX, although I believe those rumours were debunked by EVGA recently.

I am not surprised to see this card make the light of day, as I would have punched myself in the face if nVidia didn't release this :D

This card is aimed at 4K, Tri-SLI users IMO. I have shown how Crysis 3 used 4.6GB on my Titan at 4K (or just shy of it to be honest). If you have one or two 780Ti 3GB's, you will be ok at 4K res for most games, but the games that push past the 3GB buffer will need turning settings down to make playable.

I'm gonna call it now, although I did think they would eventually do this - I still feel fairly amendment this that this card doesn't exist.

Doesn't make financial sense to release the 790GTX and this in the same time frame. Hands up if I'm wrong but something just doesn't smell right to me :)

You feel fairly "adamant"? You 'Prince Charming' you :p

With Titan being EOL, they will want to jump on the 4K cash cow, as nothing else they have is 4K ready and this could also mean that Maxwell is a fair distance away.

If I had the 3GB cards, I wouldn't jump on the 6GB cards in honesty and would wait it out for the next iterations from both camps.

Quite, quite :D LOL

It's more because of the 790GTX 'rumours' we're hearing. Doesn't make sense to release both next month. I'm thinking that the 790 is coming, and this is somebody getting some vague info and making their own conclusion. Maybe the 790 is in fact 6GB per core. Surely makes more sense anyway

3Gb of VRAM is arguably not enough for even a bog standard 780 when overclocked...

Glad to see they're releasing a version with enough VRAM to allow the core to be the bottleneck.

Gregster, do you guys pick up a cut of the advert fees wcctech and videocardz.com get from this forum? :)

You forgot to read the small print at the bottom of the wcctech article.

Headline says : "GTX780ti 6GB Confirmed*"

Small print says: "*By LtMatt's mum, after she had been fed a couple of shandies".

Seriously though, it is truly a 780ti 6GB card, just with two 780ti GPU's on the board ;)

I think 790GTX with a 6GB per each core would be very hard to market.. 4k resolution people are very rare, even if you could say "12GB RAM! ON A SINGLE CARD!"

Ti with 6GB is a possibility though, easier to market too.. Card with enough power to run games at 4k and have enough Vram for it. Just do not mention the FPS won't be over 30 with a single card..
