MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 18(2014-01-02)

Hi there

Treated myself to an Asus 290X reference. With GPU Tweak I can put upto 1.412v into the card and she awards me with 1240MHz core clock and 6500MHz memory, but GPU Tweak does not have PLL voltage like afterburner.

Problem with afterburner I can only go upto 1.35v which is 1200MHz core, but I can get ram too 6600-6800MHz with PLL voltage increased, even more surprising the card has Elpidia and clocks like a beast. :)

Question: anyway to get +200mv on afterburner with Asus 290X instead of usual +100mv?

P.S. Had a play with an MSI Lightning 290X yesterday, best OC I've ever achieved and what a cooler. :)

Trixxx allows you +200mv Gibbo. There is a way to do it with afterburner but im not sure how. Someone else might know though.

Gibbo,

Try adding this to a short cut to afterburner. Add it on to the end of the "Target" line:

/wi4,30,8d,20

The "20" on the end represents +200mV offset. The two digits are hex so 20 hex = 32 decimal. Each step is +6.25mV, so 32 is 32 x 6.26 = +200.

Of course you could go higher!

(See here for Unwinders explaination: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4697356&postcount=143)

so the Target line reads:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner\MSIAfterburner.exe" /wi4,30,8d,20

(or where ever you have it installed!)

You will need to run the +200mV shortcut then load up afterburner. You could probably add it to startup if your waying 24/7.

Oh and if you realllllly want to can mess about with LLC:

*I cannot be held responsible for you blowing your graphics card up using the above

Nice. FIxed the crazy useage bug i had before.

Any one know of a tool to add some voltage to my memory chips? the 290 Pro (unlocked to x) memory maxs at 1325 :/ then crashes my system

Add more core voltage opens up memory overclocking. AUX voltage can sometimes net you an extra few Mhz on the memory. Focus on the core voltage first as that gives extra OC room on the memory.

That does not work any more, just tried it. Looking for 150-200mv via afterburner beta 18.

EDIT

Figured it out. You need to use this code now. /wi6,30,8d,20

No actually it does not work. It sets +200mv in afterburner, but the second you move the voltage slider it defaults back to 100mv grrr. Anyone got a working solution?

Hi LtMatt,

Random question: I have got one 7990 only, so I assume it is not crossfiring? Should I tick the 'disable ULPS' box? I dont mind that extra electricity :P

THANKS!

A 7990 is two 7970's on one pcb so yes you're crossfiring. Nonetheless it can improve performance a bit so id disable it, if you don't mind the marginally higher electricity usage. If you're overclocking its strongly advisable to disable it.

The shortcut sets the voltage to +200mv. When u open afterburner after using the shortcut it will be at 200mv but if you try and adjust it in afterburner the max it can set will be +100mv. the working solution is after you use the shortcut and open afterburner dont try and readjust the voltage . If you want between 100 and 200 you change the last number in the shortcut command . ie change 20 to 15

Yeah figured that out, thanks though.

What is this PLL voltage you referring to? The ram on my OcUK VTX unclocked 290x only managed 5600MHz max, and any higher I will get black screen in no more than 3 loops in Metro2033's benchmark.

I'm still on Afterburner Beta 17 btw.

He means AUX voltage.

Right, because I cannot see the 'AMD crossfire' option under the AMD Catalyst control center, so I thought maybe I am not crossfiring...
