I've been given the opportunity to apply for a massive promotion with one company that I do casual security and event work for, that would really see me back on my feet if I could get it, as since breaking up with the ex, exactly a year ago, I've really gone through the mill and am currently languishing on benefits and getting the odd shift here and there with a company I've been doing casual work for, for over 12 years (just not a lot of it in the past few years).

Its for a management development scheme that they offer and would give me a starting salary of £21,000.00 approx with plenty of opportunity to move up for the right candidate. They've offered me this chance at applying as a favor as they usually only let external candidates apply. Naturally I'm chuffed and nervous but part of the application requires that I answer the following questions.

Question 1: What personal qualities will you bring to the Management Development Programme?
Question 2: What style of leadership do you think if most effective?

While I can answer them, I have no idea what they're really looking for answer wise... so can any of you lovely folks give me some advice?

Asking this in GD? Wow this could get interesting.

*pop corn*

Question 1: What personal qualities will you bring to the Management Development Programme?
I'm a smart, beautiful person who loves to sing and dance. I also love tattoing co-workers during my lunch hour.

Question 2: What style of leadership do you think if most effective?

Napoleon in essence with a hint of rosemary.

Joking aside my work run these schemes to get new management blood in, although most don't last long after completing them. They're asking your personal qualities, only you know these but self-motivation, valuing others, good oral as well as written communications skills, public speaking etc. I doubt they're after anything more, but how you answer it will be important, confidently but not cocky etc.

Leadership style, are you likely to be a listener, with your door always open, calm and measured. Monitoring people without micro-managing them. I've no idea what you're like so I can't really answer it for you.

This is what I've got so far, though its just a first draft. (couple of lines each)

Answer to question 1:

I feel I will be able to bring my dedication to being a hard working and conscientious, reliable employee. I have an innate ability to deal with pressure which I feel I've been able to effectively demonstrate over my career so far. I'm very highly motivated and driven to succeed and will accept and approach obstacles and problems in a logical and clear manner through to completion.

I'm also extremely eager to learn more about not just the security industry and 'insert company name' place in that industry but also about myself.

Answer to question 2:

Personally I feel that endeavoring to always lead by example is the most effective form of leadership. It shows both new and current employees what behaviors and standards are acceptable when representing the company and also sets people at ease when they can see first hand how something is done properly. If successful in my application this is something I would try to stress to those directly under me.

Give them examples of when you've went beyond your call of duty to help other employers or people.

Give them examples of how you have motivated people or felt motivated by other people.

Paternalistic Leadership, because you've always wanted to be a father but no one will help you in that area.

Woefully not true though as I have two gorgeous kids!

Don't ruin the joke :( :D
But seriously these are the sort of questions only you can answer because none of us have a clue what you're like or what qualities you posses, apart from being good a posting epic threads about larger ladies.

So you're not a dynamic, proactive, results oriented team player who can also work on his own then? Shame, because it appears that every other job applicant in the world is...
