Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

The fact it doesn't support 16:10 is a much bigger issue. Still a decent game though, but the letterbox along with the god awful camera stop it being amazing. :(

REALLY enjoying the proper Metal Gear Solid style stealth segments, shame that you can't stealth kill those giant cow mechs though. :p

The Gekkos? I'm pretty sure you can :p it's been a long time since I played it last though so I could be remembering it wrong.

I doubt I shall be buying this... I LOVE the MGS games but ever since finishing the tanker mission on MGS2 and then you play as Raiden.... I hate his candy ass with a fiery passion! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr he's just such a douche bag in my eyes.....god damn emo! :p but that's just my thoughts ;)

His character changed quite a lot in MGS4 and was much more of a badass, but then again I must have been one of the few people in the "I don't hate Raiden" camp in MGS2 :p It'd be a shame to miss out on this game simply because of the resolution or because of how he was in SoL, you could always check out some trailers or early cutscenes to decide for yourself though.

:p yeaaahhhhhhhh nahhhh xD I regularly watch some streamers on twich who play through all the MGS games (sometimes 50-100 hour marathons, all games, in order, E-extreme, full story....take a while lol) yea he became less of a whiny ***** in MGS4 but he's still on my "meh" list hahaha each to their own though, some people love the ninja play style and that's fair enough, I just don't like his attitude :)

seen this game played through too and it's appeared to be a lot more arcade action fighter, not the tactical stealthy espionage that I prefer from those games.

reminds me... still not completed mgs4 myself :\ keep forgetting and then when I do I usualyl forget that my ps3 was wiped so had to start from scratch haha! I love the games but I'm not the best at playing them...hehe :p

Ah, fair enough :D I was a bit sceptical about it at first with the move away from stealth (I'm a long time MGS fan), along with Kojima handing it off to another company and sticking it in the Metal Gear camp so they could take it in a different direction, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Personally prefer the stealth games myself too, but MGR definitely hit the right notes for me and enjoyed the hell out of it regardless :)

Played about an hour of this, bought in the Steam Sale for about a tenner (think it was 50% off or something), and so far, so good!

I love Platinum Games' style of game like Bayonetta and Vanquish, so the frenetic pace is something I enjoy. The game is really casual, which for me as a regular BF4 player, is a nice change. Also love the whole MGS theme as a backdrop, and loving how the CODEC call system is still part of the overall gameplay with lots of people to call and conversations to hear (some of which are pretty funny).

What sucks currently is the lack of a 1440p option, but it is not so bad that I can't live without it. The Story is hyper-violent and over-the-top, but in a good way. Sure, Raiden is marmite, but overall I think his positives outweigh his negatives by far, esp. post-MGS4.

Played an hour of it so far, it's everything I expected. A good hack and slash. Cut scenes are typically long though.

Virtually at the start of the game I got to

fight a giant robot that shot lasers and rockets, I then cut off its limbs and sliced it in half. Epic.

I also ended up slicing a barrel into two thousand pieces :D

Its a shame more time hasnt been taken with the PC version, as I loved this game when I played it on 360.

Although the last boss made me swear very loudly!

As annoyed as I was with the final boss at times, the music was just so damn good (the track called "It Has To Be This Way") that I forgot about the frustration :p

Anyone else having trouble maintaining 60fps at max settings? :( 19x12 here but drops here and there! Game barely looks any better than the console version apart from the crispness from the resolution.

I like Raiden.

MGS2 was my first MGS. I didn't even play the tanker mission :p

Yeah I'm using a 280x and during most fights the fps drops quite a bit.
Ive tried messing with the settings but no change so I'm just going to have to live with it until they patch it (they probably wont though)

I actually quite like the game. It's definatly not following suit. For a mindless hack and slash its brilliant.

Spoiler!!!

raiden maybe a cyborg but the way he treated a metal gear as his bitch is somewhat unrealistic in the metal gear world haha.

Raiden was ok in Metal Gear 4, but saying that you didn't outright hate him in MGS is a travesty that you should be ashamed of!

I played through MGS2 again recently and I just couldn't believe how much I used to love the game!...Raiden is constantly surprised by absolutely everything that anyone says throughout the whole game! It is difficult to imagine someone actually writing the script and thinking it was good.

I actually have a problem with this on 1920x1080, the game shrinks and has a black border around it, and the ALT+Enter command does nothing, quite a few Steam users had the same issue, AMD GPU here.

Turning off blur and msaa down to 4x keeps me at a solid 60fps now even when things are hectic. Performance remains solid until I do zaibatsu and hit 800 cuts or so then i drops to 22-30fps :p. Ah well.
