Mercedes CLS talk to me

To be honest though once you are up to speed with the cruise on it kinda doesnt matter whats under the bonnet on that route, except the M5/M6 interchange bit :p

Not sure I would be able to stretch to an AMG but in honesty I need to drive a few.

Deffo a CGI V6 (292bhp) and a 5.5 V8 (388bhp)

I've not been in either tbh - think the latter is only in the facelift CLS though.

Isn't the pre facelift CLS500 a 306 bhp 5.0?

It was on my list and I ended up with the S4 due to lack of a centre rear seat, no folding rear seats (skis) and lack of 4wd. I think they're a lovely car. Really nice cruiser and pack a punch too.

I really like the CLS as well, it was a close option before I bought the XF

Same models for me, but really wanted the later v8 or the 55

Dont think there are any right now, but on the Merc approved used site they do have some come up for decent enough money. When I started looking they had a nice low mile CLS55 AMG for under £15k which wasnt bad. Not now though.

I might have paid slightly over the odds for mine when I got it last year, it's a 1 owner from new, full MBSH with MB warranty and 75k miles - 15k.

However it is fully loaded in the spec I wanted.

Not sure what the going price is for them now (not that i'm looking to sell!)

Incidentally, does anyone think the facelift versions actually look worse?

Can't tell the difference tbh.

Had a CLS Grand Edition (run out special with some nice kit and the Brabus power upgrade) for three years. Loved it.

Had to go diesel due mileage but 272bhp and 435lbft made it entertaining enough for the family wheels.

Thinking about buying another actually.

Not as gadgety as a BMW and the interior was not as high end as some Audis but all round I really liked it. Not really exciting though, just ideal for family wheels.

Feel free to ask any questions :)

What kinda economy does the diesel give out of interest?

40 mpg on the motorway at around 75. Oddly between 70 and 80 it didn't seem to make much difference at all.

Proper mile crusher, drove back from Disneyland Paris in one hit apart from the Chunnel (and I didn't hang around). Still got just under 40. 2 people, 2 micro humans and a boot full of crap. Very comfortable.

Whats it like getting the kids in Ben?

Looks a bit of a mare parked next to other cars as the rear door significantly overhangs the wheelhousing that you need to move past to get in and out.

Looks a very nice car.
