Wow what?

Can't the output/monitor be a factor in this?
I've seen my 7970 DCII when I had one flicker, same with a Gigabyte 7970.

But then in other testing instances of machines/monitors they haven't.

That flickering is from the memory idling too low.. I had the same issue. Plenty of fixes can be found with a quick google :)

I thought this when i first read the post. Ive seen weird screen issues with dodgy cables.

Alternatively I've seen GPU's memory clocks cause problems (MSI Afterburner was clocking up my R9 290 for literally no reason)
Undervolting my card, I can cause it to flicker too (Although we're talking -75mv)

I had the same a while back when I returned a GTX 670 PE.

Ended up having to pay return postage, testing free and postage back to me.

The card was tested as fine. I phoned up as the GPU was clearly faulty and they just said send it back and it'll be refunded.

Lost a fortune on postage and testing fees though.

Strange, the customer service seems good depending on who it is you deal with or if you kick up a fuss.

@Bailey - Thanks for the quick response. I do appreciate the card being sent back to me without charge, thanks for that.

Regarding other comments about it being my system, I can confirm I am using the Matrix 7970 at the moment and I do not get any flickering issues. Also I tested the Lightning card on my Panasonic plasma 50" and my Dell u2711. Both had the same issues of flickering. I used HDMI and 2 separate DP cables to connect the gfx card so we can rule out dodgy cables.

I will check the card tonight. Like I said in my first post, I cant see how the problem would have been resolved, but I will test it again and see if I have the same issues.

And so @Bailey I will let you know by today/tomorrow if there is still a problem.

@masscrazy

Not a problem, its my job to help and make things go smoothly here so give me a shout anytime and I will try my best to help

If you can keep me updated on this situation that would be great.

I'm not in work though at the weekend so I wont pick it up until Monday however.

Just keep my updated :)

Thanks again

Bailey

Update: Just put the card in. The flickering is still happening.

I dont get the extreme flicking as I did before where it would flicker as soon as windows loaded but i do everytime I start an online video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsLsP5PIlhc - Just recorded, not a very good video, but you will see flickering at the start of every video.

I will keep it for a few days and see if it gets worse or stays the same.

Do you get the flickering with different internet browers?

Have you unticked the 'use hardware acceleration when available option, or similar, in your browser of choice?

Have you tried upping your gpu memory voltage a little?

Have you tried altering the 2D clock setting?

Could go on :P, sometimes things aren't as simple as 'out of the box ready' with computers

I used to get this flickering with my MSI 7950 TF3 and did request an RMA with OcUK a few times but ended up not going through with because I feared a result like this and just costing me postage.

Some of these comments appear to give some good advise, but I can't see any follow through comments relating to you testing them out.

Regrading the MSI Afterburner comment, have you removed it to see if there are any improvements?
BIOS update to the motherboard? Irrelevant in most situations, but your running out of options.
How about older/newer drivers?

Might be a bit of an "off the wall" suggestion here, but is the card getting enough power?

What make/model/rating PSU are you using?

I'm taking a wild stab in the dark and suggesting that the OcUK testbeds have massively overrated PSU's in them, which won't have issues powering anything.

It could be that the card flickers because it's cold and drawing more power than the PSU can dish out, and hence flicking between 'full' and 'throttled' power modes until it's warm?

Just a thought, I could be talking rubbish though :)

I used to have this issue, I believe it was much worse with multi monitors, the fix for me was changing the 2D clocks as the driver was setting it way to low. Have you tried this, upping the 2D core speed and memory?

So i've got it set to 1000/1300 or something like that.
