which PS3 pease

I think the Slim is generally seen as the all-round best version to get (the hard drive size doesn't really matter that much as you can probably upgrade it yourself) due to its lower noise level and better reliability. The only problem is they aren't as easy to get a hold of as the Super Slim (which from what I've heard is louder and less reliable than the Slim) so you may need to look into buying it second-hand.

thanks... so i can only see new superslim ones available to buy new and the price is going up. They were available the 500GB version with Gran Turismo 6 + The Last of Us or GTA5 for £199.99 last week.. now its gone up to £219.99

where can i get a new ones of these... how do i tell the difference between the two.. as some places are listing the super slim as the slim?
Thanks

The slims are great. I have one and its been bulletproof. As above though not that easy to get hold of unless you're lucky or want to go second hand.

It's really only a choice between the 12GB and the 500GB - people recommending the Slim model don't seem to realise that it's been out of production for ages already and, considering it's a birthday present, a second-hand one probably isn't the desired route.

Does the PS3 super slim come with a 1 year or 2 year warranty as standard?.
As John Lewis are selling with a 2 year warranty however it is out of stock... if normally the PS3 comes with a 1 year warranty i will wait till JL get more PS3 in stock.

It comes with one, anything extra is retailer dependent. JL is always worth shopping with for the excellent warranty, just double check they are getting more stock and you're not going to be waiting months.

I can only echo what is said above regarding PS3 choice, especially if this is for a younger child. My white super slim is a cheaply made piece of **** compared to my white regular slim which is solid and bomb proof.

The superslim does feel a bit flimsy and the blu-ray drive can be noisy as hell, especially on GTA V. The Sony warranty sheet that came with mine offers 1 year replace with new, then an additional 2 years swap for recon / repair.

Only get the 12gb if you have a spare 2.5" hdd kicking about, you'll need a mounting kit but they're easy enough to get hold of from the rainforest place or auction sites. Without an hdd upgrade the GTA install alone will fill up most of the 9GB available to the user, preventing any other games being installed alongside.

I got a 12gb Superslim from OcUK with God of War ascension thrown in (approx £120 inc next-day delivery) and grabbed a mounting kit from the rainforest place for £8 as my aging Fat PS3 had a YLOD and failed a reballing attempt. I'd already upgraded that to 500gb though so just swapped the drive over.

the second hand market is worth looking at, i just picked up a 160gb slim with 15 games for £80 and all games im looking to play so great result

did you get the through local ads, bay place or similar.
Not sure if a 2nd one will suffice for a birthday present :/
