My Macbook pro busted last night, i suspect its the logic board

Apart from going apple who wanted £35.00 to chat on phone and looking at £400 for a new board, does anybody know another place to get it repaired/spares

im pretty confident i could replace the board myself

obvious place would be ebay. There'll be a few for sale to install yourself, places offering to install for you. probably cheaper as most will be refurbished boards. As usual you take the chance with anything off there. Guess its out of warranty then.

Ive fixed plenty of Macbooks, just use a guide from iFixit

What year and spec is it? I work for an independent company that deals in Apple Spares, might be able to help you out.

I have been in this situation myself with Apple gear plenty of times. It has always been beneficial to book a Geek appointment and get them to confirm the fault at an Apple store, even if you don't intend to use them to fix it. I have never been ripped off for an Apple diagnosis and repair on at an Apple store.

There will be ways and means of doing it cheaper, usually that means some sort of compromise.

tbh for that model i'd kick up a stink since its failed so quickly (im sitting here on a 2009 MBP thats still running). I bet you paid at least 1500 for it, its unacceptable that it has failed so quickly really.

1900 I paid already had the hdd go the sata cable for the Super drive go.. Those I just repaired myself... But yeah think I will kick a bit.. Other hand it's used 24/7 at work and home
