Hi Guys

Used to have a 6cd changer by Sony, but it's now given up the ghost...

Can't see any around sub £500 ... anyone able to recommend one?

Personally i would just connect the NAS to the AV Receiver... But It's for someone with a massive CD collection.

These were never really a "Hi-Fi" product. They were a convenience product. So when the convenience music market moved from CD to MP3 CD to MP3 drives then the demand for multi-changers dried up.

There's still some stuff around but the choice is limited to just a few models. Onkyo does the DX-C390 (B - Black, K/S - silver) which is available for under £300.

TBH though, if your friend likes playing any track from their library, then have a think about getting them started on digitising their music collection. An iPod or other MP3 player will give them unparalleled access to the music and the ability to set up play lists as well as doing the basic random/shuffle but of a much larger music selection than just 6 discs.

It's a generation thing, they're not particular keen on a single cd player, nor do they want the hassle and effort of putting everything onto an Mp3 player of messing around with a NAS drive and navigating their files via the TV screen...

Might be an ebay job >.<

I understand that. It's why I pointed out the Onkyo. Like it or not though the market has moved on.

Something used from Ebay will save a few quid in the short term. Just be aware that reliability on the carousel mechs was always a bit of a weak spot. Someone's old deck could be that much closer to failing.

You used to be able to get a hydrid cd/hdd player which you popped in your cds and it saved them onto the hdd. Something like that might do the job nicely.
