OCUK forum speed/responsiveness

It does seem odd that some threads have been archived and replaced while others still exist. :(

It's the way vbulletin and the database works. Archiving reduces the views and db load yet still allows information to be available for reference.

From my understanding every time you visit a thread or comment on it all the entries have to be updated and has to query the db. The bigger the thread the more has to be updated. We have had some seriously massive threads. It's a popular forum and even later versions of vbulletin won't necessarily resolve that from what I've heard anyway.

Lots of database errors still on my phone (iPhone 4S) but it's fine - and always has been - on my desktop.

Sack the Hamsters, Gerbils are where it's at.

I understand why you are archiving threads, what I said was why do other large threads still exist? Why haven't they been archived when other threads have been?
