Hello there!

I'm looking to carry out my first PC gaming upgrade with a maximum budget of approximately £850.

Parts which I'm keeping from my current build:-

CPU - 2500K @ 4.2GHz
MB - Asrock Z68 Pro 3
PSU - Antec True Power 650W

I've spent a week or so gathering knowledge on what to buy for my first PC gaming upgrade (with help from users here too) and have come up with this list:-

I'm looking to order the parts today/tomorrow and would love to get the go ahead from more experience people with regards to compatability, PSU good enough, case fittings etc. ;)

To me, they all look good, but I would prefer a second opinion.

Thank you for reading!

Hi,

Is that an Antec True Power new 650W PSU?

The parts look fine to me.

The case takes GFX cards upto 304mm long and that Gigabyte GTX780 is 292mm long.

The case takes coolers upto 177mm tall, the K2 is 160mm according to the Alpenfohn website, but I measure mine a little bit more than this but still under 170mm.

Nope, I've had it for at least 2 years now. I'm slightly concerned that I will need a new PSU. Would be slightly dissappointed though because I don't really want to drop the gtx 780. Not a problem though. :)

Thank you for your help.

Your fine then.

Quality PSU made by Seasonic, plenty of amps on the 12v rail:)

That's brilliant! I don't have the boxes to my components anymore will I need to buy additional cables?

e.g.

A cable for the SSD?

I own an MSI 560Ti at the moment - I don't really know if I'll need to buy additional power cables for my new GPU.

I'm also unsure whether or not I'll need extra components from my motherboard box.

Thanks! :)

The gfx card needs a 6+8pin pci-e power connector, I'm sure your PSU has that?

The SSD I'm not so sure about what it comes with.

The ssd does`nt come with any cables, just a disc with the software.
What ram do you have with your current build?

6+2 pins join together to make an 8pin.

The PSU should have enough SATA power connectors as it has three of them.

So one for a SSD, one for a HDD and another for a DVD drive maybe?

Ok thanks! Yeah, I've also just realised I forgot to mention I had a DVD drive. So the only cable I need to buy is the cable from the SSD to the mobo?

Thanks for all the help mate!

Have a look inside your case and see if you can get a free SATA power connector into position where you will fit the SSD.
