Hi guys,

Running an R9 270X on Windows 8.1, an have found that installing drivers is more difficult than it should be...

First of all I was getting "not latest driver version" errors when playing BF4 (13.9 I think) and I can't see an option to keep them up to date with Catalyst Control centre...

I really like GeForce experience, the way you can automatically keep up to date with the latest releases. I know AMD have their "Raptor" software which is kind of he same thing but it is constantly popping up with annoying notifications (which I now have disabled)

It's probably just me being an idiot but I was ow seeing how you guys keep your GPU drivers up to date?

Cheers

Just download the latest ones from the AMD site as and when they're released. The auto update feature in Catalyst was removed some time back due to security issues.

Bloody heck, you'd rip your hair out if you actually worked on the technical side of computers!

Just downloaded them from the relevant website (obviously AMD's in this case). It takes less than a minute to find the drivers and hit the download button.

13.12 are the latest.

Pro-tip, never use a cd that comes with any product for drivers.

Always get them online.

Guys, without wanting to sound rude, I know how to install drivers. I'm an IT Technician...

My question was, is there a similar software to GeForce experience that allows me to see up-to-date drivers as they are released, as Catalyst control centre seems quite clunky.

Sorry of this seemed like a stupid question, was just wondering if anyone out there was experiencing something similar

Personally, I'd never rely on a driver auto update.

As an IT Technician, you should have looked for the latest drivers :o

I did have them at the time (I think I'm right in saying that AMD released a new one just before/after BF4?

That was the point of asking, I didn't know I didn't have the latest one until BF4 have me an error message...

Amd used to have one but they removed it due to "security flaws" whatever that was. Been almost a year without a fix I just check once a month or so.

I also removed raptor nice idea but all the notifications soon peeved me.

It's annoying. However I guess by not auto updating you have the luxury of holding off on new drivers until bugs are submitted via the main community. Then you get the nice clean one a bit later.

Wasnt there a nvidia driver that borked a certain series of gpu a while ago?

I remember hearing something about that dreaded driver...

On my work machine (HP Elite, i7 3770K, Nvidia GT610) I like having the option to download beta versions of drivers (yeah I'm one of those people who get excited about driver and windows updates, sad I know)

I had that when I got my card back in November, a bug that was causing screen-flicker when a HDMI display was connected

It's these few instances that make me hold off having the "latest and greatest" it's much harder to roll back drivers than it is to wait and be sure. Paranoid maybe but I don't have a backup pc for work at the moment.

Don't worry, I bought an R9 270 over Christmas and practically did exactly the same thing you did after using NVIDIA for most of the last decade. The latest drivers didn't seem to want to present themselves on the website.
