My accounts are a bit of a mess at the moment, so I am trying to sort them out, however Google seems to be a bit of a pain if I am honest.

I have a YouTube account already, which has a random Gmail account attached to which I do not use at all!

I have a Gmail account which I use as my main email.

Is there a way to unlink my email from my YouTube channel, so that email address is gone forever, and link my main email account with my YouTube channel?

It sounds very easy, but to do it, I am finding it very hard, and it seems like from Googling, it isn't possible?

It is pretty frustrating, when I am wanting to cut it down and just have a simple account to work with! Ideally I don't want to start another YouTube channel on my main account, and delete everything from my current channel.

best thing to do is revert back to old style ;) . you can revert unlink in youtube channel/ settings.

but to use comments you need to use google+ who needs to comment anyway :D

God knows. I have a GMail and G+ account that's linked to my Youtube account as per Google's instructions, yet I still can't post comments on Youtube which in turn means I can't respond to people asking questions on my videos.

Google really screwed the pooch with all this ****.

That doesn't seem to fix unlinking your email? That is what I am trying to do, remove the email from my YouTube account completely and using my main email instead.

These should help:

1)

2)
Go to advanced account settings
Click Change Google Accounts.
Confirm that you want to unlink your YouTube channel from the Google Account and enter the verification code. Then click Unlink My Accounts.
You'll then be asked to re-link your YouTube channel to a Google Account. You can link it to an existing Google Account that you own, or create a new one.

I want to unlink my email though, not Google Plus.

If that makes sense, is that even possible?

Google plus is linked to your google account, so those instructions should work. It's the google account you are concerned with, rather than thinking of them as individual accounts.
