Hey guys,Seen as Asus RoG are bringing out a 1440P monitor that is 1ms and 120hz.

I was wondering if my card would run it fine above 60 fps on AAA titles with med to high settings?

Or should i be going SLI if i want above 60 fps constant? Is is it a non issue,Considering that G-Sync supposedly runs buttery smooth?

Hoping someone could give me insight that's running the same setup with a 1440P monitor.

Cheers

Jamie

As long as you don't want highest possible settings you will be fine.

For example, on single 780 Lightning clocked to 1320, I can select all ultra with 2xAA, and there will only be the very occasional dip below 60 fps.

Something like AC Black Flag pushes cards a bit more, and near max I think Iw ill see around 45-55 most of the time.

If you drop AA a bit, often that will be enough to bring performance up at 1440p

Cheers mate,Appreciate the feedback! Was hoping not having to SLI haha.

My classified is at 1280 atm running at 60C max load which is really nice :)

You will be fine for the most part as stated. Probably wise to drop things like multi sampling.
Going on personal experience, one Ti for me did feel fairly painful going from 3 of them whilst I finished my build. "Well it would" I hear you say :D. Yes, but I am not one for dropping settings or dipping below 60FPS. Goes without saying that adding a second card if you can stomach the cost is well worth it at anything over 1080 :)

That said don't make me feel you'll be in for a rough ride with one, that's not the case
Just expect occasionally to be selecting FXAA and a few lower presets :)

Open nvidia control panel make a custom 1440p resolution and try your games see how you like the drop
its probaly not exactly the same as a 1440p screen i guess?? but should give you some ideas

This is a good shout.

I am sure with Crysis 3 aside, you will be fine for more or less all games with max settings. BF4 could be a little taxing and could possibly do with dropping AA slightly and I am sure there will be a couple more but on the whole, I find a single Titan copes well with 1440P.

A simple guide there to downsample. You can create a custom 1440P/1600P resolution and see how you get on. It squashes a 1440P image onto your 1080P monitor and gives a decent image. It will show how well your Classy will cope @ 1440P.

I run a custom resolution of 3200x1800 (nearly 4K) on a few of my games and it is a killer on frames but the image looks so much better than 1080P.

For the best part it will do fine, tho there are games out there that even at 1080P it might struggle to do 60FPS on max settings, the good thing about 1440P is that i myself dont feel the need to run a game maxed out with high AA on etc ;)

IMO the only real reason run high res is for the good details, so if you're going to get high res and then drop the graphics settings, you might as well have gone 1080p.

Ditch the beers for a few weeks and grab a second 780, you wont regret it. Maxing every game at 1440 with playable FPS feels good, man.

Couldn't have put it better if I tried. :)

I've been running 2560x1440@120hz for the last year and half initially on 670, then a 7990 and finally on my 780 and its fine for the majority of games.

I run very little AA on most games as it doesn't really need it at this res, but when I do struggle with FPS i'll downscale at 1:1 so quality is still good. For example I play CS:GO in 1920x1440 as I prefer 4:3 ratio for CS.
