iPhone 5/5s aerial

I have an iPhone 5 and pick up no wifi signals where I live. My housemate has a Samsung Galaxy S4 and picks up about 6, one of which is sci-fi wifi connection that is a 20mb download.

Is there something magical in the S4 that makes it pick up all these that my iPhone 5 cannot do? If I got a 5S, are the specs different to be able to pick up wifi signals and quicker 3G? (his 3G access is also quicker)

Maybe your iPhone is only picking up 5 ghz and the s4 picking up 2.4 ghz?

Have you tried turning off and on the wifi? Restarting the iPhone? Reset network settings? Does the wifi work elsewhere?

Check the app store and see if there's a wifi scanner that will give you more detail on the surrounding wifi channels.

As for the 3G speed, I'm assuming you tested it against his S4 with the same network and same room?

Pretty sure the phone picks up both, and it's the router where you set it to either 2.4 or 5ghz, only newer phones will see the 5ghz, but all phones should see the 2.4ghz signals

All resets etc tried on my phone, both in same room, both on 3 mobile one plan. Its just like the s4 had better hardware. Does it?
