Cheap, Quiet GFX Card

Hey all,

An odd question here but basically I was wondering if there was a graphics card out there that is comparable in power (if not slightly more powerful) than a GeForce GTS250 1GB that runs cooler than the GTS250? The GTS250 meets most of my needs (I only really play older games, i.e. Overlord, Garry's Mod, Sims 3, Texas McGee's Alice 2 etc) so don't need much of a powerhouse at all - I have a PS3 if I want high profile games.

I've got a budget of around 65-70 squids. Definately need something that runs cooler as the GTS250 has a ridiculously loud fan and straddles 98c at load!

They're in my sig - i7 860 at stock, foxconn motherboard with pcie 2.0, 6GB DDR3-10600

An Arctic Accelero S1 Plus VGA Cooler (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-061-AR&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=787) will fit a lot more cards than OCUK suggests, check the Arctic site and it lists up to a GTX 650.

There is your problem. Sounds like poor airflow. I would think about investing in a new case and make sure your motherboard will fit it first.

Chuck in the S1 onto the GTS 250 and you will have come to about £70 anyway

That Bitfenix case is superb value. I just used one to build a rig for a friend. It has a lot of features for the money.

If you still need to upgrade the card, either of these are great. I am a particular fan of KFA cooler designs. They look great and are really efficient.
