AMD Catalyst 13.35 BETA Driver With Mantle and HSA Support Scheduled For End of January

Moving from my surround sound headset which I actually thought was good to some Sennheiser 518's was night and day difference for me. Surround sound headphones are a gimmick imo.

Where were you guys when I tried pointing this out to someone using those God awful Kave headphones in another thread! A decent sound card and a good set of stereo headphones are so much better in every aspect.

Used on board sound for years until a £20 PCI-e Asus Xonar chaned my life. 7.1 in BF3 & 4 works and works well. I can tell if people are upstairs/behind me or upstairs behind me. Best £20 I spent in a while. Rocksmith 2014 doesnt like it though.

That might be my problem, i'm using onboard sound. perhaps i should invest 20 Quid on an Asus Xonar sound card, heard a lot of good things about them.

Edit. thats a lie. i have the headset plugged into my G110 keyboard which has its own sound card, its probably still not that good.

Xonar not an option? Surely those 290x's run cool and wont mind a silly audio card over the blower? Not.

First thing I noticed after installing Xonar was the sound from my own weapon and the reflection of the sound being reflected from the surroundings. My usual weapon sounded like a new one. It was that difference and the bass that was delivered made it much more battle like. I hear the USB versions aint bad if you have decent headset.

In BF4 if away from vehicles and stuff I can hear someone chucking medkits or ammo down and reloading behind the wall I'm behind. ANd where. Unfortunately so can others when I do the same. C4 on walls have done me more than once!!!

I use a pair of Senhieser 363 Gaming headphones in 5.1 or 7.1 and the sound in BF4 is simply mind blowing.

I can hear footsteps and place direction and distance, directional gun fire and source if close, directional projectiles whizzing past my head, rpg and xm25's, the sounds from explosive shockwaves give the impression of pressure build up in the ears, birds singing, floors creeking when enemy are walking across floor boards above, its seems in my opinion BF4 is in high defination audio.

Very impressed by the sound in BF4 a quatum leap ahead of BF3.

A Xonar is not an option for me sadly.

Do you not have a PCI-E 1x slot above card one? My mobo does. That's where my Essence is.

The actual quality of the sound coming out of the directional speakers in your headphones is poor though.

Comparatively speaking I mean.

I do but i have a small spot fan there so it wouldn't fit. Without that spot fan gpu1 runs 1-2c warmer than gpu2 and in my world that is unacceptable.

I use a Roccat Kave True 5.1 not this fake stereo surround headset. With a Asus Xonar D2X.

The Roccat headset is superb, 3x speakers in each cup plus a Sub and with the sub is a vibration unit bit like the ps3 pads. So when you shoot the bass plus vibration is superb.

Its not over done either its a nice touch.

The top Seinhieser gaming headsets use USB2/3 with a built in digital decoder. No need for a sound card from my understanding.

How much though? I don't fancy spending a lot for a small change. After all i can get stereo through my current headset if i turn the surround option off.

The sound is amazing, you might be able to say that the directionality would be better with lots of smaller descrete drivers per headphone. (I dont know how many drivers on each head channel (L/R).

I love my headphones, the sound is a joy everytime I stick them on my head.lol :D

Its not small. Its huge.

Its like the difference between watching porn verses actually doing it yourself. (Thats another good use for the headphones):D
