More Pies Anyone?

not what nhs was intended for shouldn't be done on nhs.

if you morbidly obese you lose wait or die? Is that not incentive enough?

eat less and move more its pretty simple.

if the NHS stopped "subsidizing" the surgery would you lot stop moaning about other peoples lives ?

I gues you would get a tax rebate a few, 100 quid a year maybe for most ? Would that buy your silence?

Some may may be focused on the cost of the operation. I think I'm more bamboozled by it being a major medical procedure that the vast majority of this 2 million people figure quoted presumably wouldn't need at all if they took the obvious steps. Or maybe in some cases, any steps at all :D

They should make them walk it off not matter how long it takes. I don't want my tax money going on this.

I just sort of accept my weight.

I mean I know guys who sit on the sofa stuffing junk food in their mouth, never do anything to look after their body, don't eat fruit and veg. Yet they're skinny as a rake.

I eat a healthy nutritious diet, don't snack, get all me fruit and veg, walk to work and back every day and excercise 3 times a week (weights) but I never lose a stone of my gut. Used to think my downfall was beer but I don't drink beer any more, drink mostly red wine or gin (in moderation) and it makes no difference. Only time I was ever without a beer belly I was doing high intensity weight training for at least an hour 7 days a week and only eating 2 balanced meals a day, people told me I looked ill as **** so I just packed it in, went back to moderate exercise and put all the weight back on.

Way I see it, it's all about body types, provided you live healthily then who gives a toss?

It is all about what body type you are happy to live with, nothing else. One thing I will say is I hate it when someone puts effort in to get fit / lose weight and then others say 'You look ill'. No you don't, you're just not podgy like you used to be! I've helped my brother recently come down from about 102kg to 88kg. All of my family, bar our dad, said he looks ill and needs to plump back up. He told them straight up no he didn't he actually had a few more KG to lose and muscle to build in place of the little stomach podge he has still. My family are terrible though, all obese (women) and sadly my mum is type II diabetic which has lead to several other complications and her quality of life is terrible really. She is a big lady yet other members of the family still buy her chocolate etc, it does my head in. I've tried to get my mum to change her diet and also how much she eats but she won't listen, would rather believe what the stupid weight watchers thing she says. My Aunt has even said to me that whilst I eat to live she lives to eat!! There is no hope for some :(

As for the statistic presented, well it'll only get worse I fear. People just expect miracles these days and something to happen without putting any effort in. That combined with eating rubbish, too much of it and the fact many think 'big' is beautiful and is to be embraced.....yeah OK not in my world it isn't......things will not get much better any time soon.

Time to invest in pharmaceutical companies that produce/sell diabetes related meds etc.
Diabetes is on the rise due to fatties!
Shareholders can benefit!

The NHS need to wake up.....

To qualify for weight loss surgery "Patients must prove they are dedicated by losing X amount of weight......"

Patient loses the weight

Patient has the surgery.

WHAT!! They have proved they could do it! Yes it was hard, No they did not enjoy it, but YES if they continued they would keep losing the weight.

Madness....They don't need the surgery to lose the weight.
