I need some stuff to go with my new Guitar, recommendations for amp, cable, strap all sorts

There is a free program called Tuxguitar that will load Guitar Pro files.

If you can afford £199 you will not be disappointed with a Blackstar ID15.
I use the 30 on stage and get lots of praise for my sound.

Well, I'll give Rocksmith a go for a month or so first before spending anymore money. One thing at a time :) It's been years since I took on a new hobby, I never really got into the piano despite having lessons. I found sitting in front of it and practice kind of boring so the only time I made any progress is at the lessons. I got as far as reading music and playing what is in front of me but no further than that.

Okay, I openly admit half the reason I bought it is because I wanted a Taylor. I just do. I am not going to apologise for it :p

That said, I couldn't decide whether I wanted an electric or acoustic, I went through the past 3 years wanting an acoustic but couldn’t pull the trigger and I realised why, I wanted that rift and jam that you get in rock as well. I wanted to play Oasis, some Queen as well as the acoustic stuff. So I wanted that acousitc sound but also that electric sound, but I don't want a bunch of guitars and this is the best thing I've come across that can do both. I fully realisted that I could've got a Taylor GS mini and a Yamaha Pacifica 112 for half of what I paid but when I saw this it just fell in love with it. It might not be 100% acoustic but it is pretty close when plugged in, and I still have a real acoustic gutiar that I borrowed from a friend. And it is easier to learn electric than acousitc, so they say.

It's not cheap, in fact, it is bloody expensive. I admit it is a lot of money for a new hobby (although the last hobby I put this much money into it turned into profit! Lol) and I am still shaking thinking about the Amex bill that is about to come through haha. But at least there are 10x more reasons to play this over a Pacifica or I will feel REALLY bad.

The guitar just makes me want to hold it and play it, I can understand that feeling now. The biggest problem I forsee from not knowing how to play is wanting to but actually sitting down and doing it and practice some real chords and songs. I hope Rocksmith can get me overcome that hurdle, the problem I have with learning the Piano is that outside lessons I have no motivation at home to practice, and no one to tell me how well I am doing. With any luck, Rocksmith, being interactive, will provide that impetus for me to play more. Even an hour in the evening would help. I mean I do like computer games.

The workmanship is astonishing, every detail is finished off to the highest standard. The neck feels really nice, I can't say I've held that many guitars but to me this feels right. The guitar being hollow means it is also really light for an electric guitar, it is strange actually to pick it up without all that weight.

When played unplugged, it sounds quite like an acoustic because of the hollow body, that is a little weird but also quite handy actually. Can practice without an amp in theory.

Oh, love the case too !

Oh, a small reason is that I wanted to take photos of a nice guitar :D (bucket list ticked!)

Rockstar arrived today too !

Odd choice..:p But as long as you are happy thats the main thing :)

If it was me I would have bought a USA strat and a Martin 0015-M:)

Having had a quick look on eBay, I could sell this more than what I paid for it so I am not concerned about the price at all.

I just love this guitar ! :D

For £1,000+ plus, I'm more the "I'll build myself one out of luxury components" type of person.

Which is what I actually intend to do at some point this year, a nice delicious, fat 8 string electric. :p

Watch the factory tour on YouTube and you will see for £1,000, it is a bit of a bargain. The precision that goes into these are insane.

Still, for me I don't see the value in that. I'm not knocking your purchase of course, if it's worth it to you that's all that matters.

You only want a little Amp for a bedroom then you can get some overdrive going without ******* off the neighbours.
Buy yourself a Pignose.

You need to take the whole thing apart and cut a little black loop in the AV jack otherwise changing channel on your TV will make the 360 reboot.

So many stupid people wrote "guides" ignoring that point :(

Have you got a guide for that.

Not that I change channel on my TV often, everything is watched through the amp, so it stays on same input anyway.

Slight necro-thread bump I know, but I'm curious how you're finding Rocksmith 2014?

I just got it for my Birthday and it seems really good :) Just got to get used to the symbols and notation and things they use on the screen

I really like it, I like the guitar arcade which is basically fret board exercise.

I like the lessons but I've been told they are far too advance, I mean I did string bending in my first day, it was a bit scary as 3 hours earlier I managed to snap my High E string whilst I was tuning (and turned it the wrong way).

And it was also weird when I look at tabs online and realise Rocksmith's default setting for the strings are upside down. I only found out this week you can flip it !!! I really want to get through all the lessons before proceeding to learning the songs in the game, because I tried it once and had no idea what some of the directions on screen meant, which are explained in the lessons.

One thing I have noticed, the tuning on the game is different to my tuner. Since the game won't let you play without being in tune (to the game), I just left it tuned to the game. Though I am unsure which is more accurate.

I am also doing some YouTube videos learning songs that I like on the side, watching Justin's guitar lessons too, playing about 30 min to an hour 5 days a week.
