Well this is interesting. According to SweClockers NVIDIA will launch the first Maxwell GPU with the graphics card from GeForce 700 series – not 800.

As we told you numerous times before first Maxwell GPUs are not high-end parts. Instead NVIDIA decided it will slowly progress to 20nm process with more advanced GPUs later.

The first Maxwell GPU, probably GM107, will be used with GeForce GTX 750 Ti, a new mid-range graphics card replacing GeForce 650 Ti. The exact details remain unknown, but are almost 100% sure its 28nm process GPU.

The new feature of the Maxwell architecture is a coherent memory, which is basically a special buffer for both CPU and GPU. This feature is not exactly new, it is available through CUDA interface, but this time NVIDIA will take this to the hardware level. According to SemiAccurate sources NVIDIA has not yet prepared a GPU with built-in ARM processor (similar to Tegra K1), instead first Maxwell GPUs would simply use a special onboard controller. In fact I don’t see the point of Project Denver in mid-range GPUs. Hopefully this will be fully implemented with the high-end GeForce GTX 800 models later this year.

Even I think that 28nm has had its day and can't see the point of this. Price and performance could be good for the lower end cards though, so probably worth waiting it out to see before sending it to chip hell.

They probably sell more of those than 780's and 780Ti's combined.

I was actually looking at the steam user hardware statistics yesterday, the highest number of cards owned were all mid range, mostly nvidia gpus, 650/660/760 type cards with the 7850 thrown in too.

Yer, I looked a while back and was very surprised. They are not like us at all :D

Got a 650ti boost 2gb card here, not bad for light gaming on my second system. Copes pretty well with bf3 on high settings at 1680x1050.

The one i got is an msi twin frozr version. Ive yet to oc it any though. But very impressed with the cooler on it. Every bit as good and quiet as the gigabyte wf cooled cards ive owned.

Upcoming 750ti on par with 650ti Boost, slower than 660... allegedly

I think the most "pointless" for lack of a better word was the GTX460 and GTX465.

Not pointless as in they shouldn't exist. But I'm pretty sure releasing both was pointless.
