Can you check the SHA/MD5 hash on the file to make sure it's untouched?

Go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/downloads/, search for your version of server 2008 and compare the SHA or just download 2008 again using the details from MSDN.

I'm assuming this is a dedicated server you've got? I had the exact same problem with a machine from ChicagoVPS trying to install a version of Ubuntu which the provider didn't have in its own repo. I got round the problem by spinning up an AmazonWS instance running Ubuntu and installed samba, setup a share then set the firewall rules to only allow connection from my dedicated server and installed it that way.

First port of call is contacting Hetzners explaining the issue and let them deal with it.

So they supply you the server and ISO, one or both aren't working correctly and they want you to cough up to fix their issue? :confused:

I've had similar issues with providers (granted, all 'low end' VPS providers) and as long as the issue was clearly at their end and i wasn't doing anything 'special', they've always sorted it.

It sounds like shoddy customer service to me and i'd reply back with an email that's a bit more forceful - explain the situation in detail, the method you're attempting to install the ISO (ie - standard install/follow one of their guides etc) and conclude that it's an issue at their end that they need to fix.

Otherwise you're going to need to stump up and either pay them to fix it or pay to setup and create a remote samba share (or use your home connection if your upload is decent).

Which I wouldn't mind paying if I knew it was going to 100% work.

This happened to me as well, although unlike yourself it wasn't a case of it not working so much as they just didnt have the OS I wanted. Out of curiosity is it a supermicro server? I agree with what visibleman has said above though, unlike my situation the providers image is not working and that is something that they should fix for free.
