I'm seriously thinking of going to 1440p. The monitor cost isn't really an issue, but if I'm gonna have to revamp my GPUs as well it quickly becomes unaffordable. So, I'm thinking of grabbing another 680 Lightning and going SLI.

Has anyone had experience of SLI 680s at this res in BF4? I know there's lots of opinions flying around about VRAM limits etc. but I guess I'm looking for people with this setup who can let me know if this actually an issue? I'm happy to knock back AA at this res, but would like most other setting to be pretty high.

I recently moved to 1440p myself, and I'm still running a AMD 7850. You should have absolutely no trouble running BF4 with dual 680s at a decent 70+ fps minimum. You may even be able to get away with a single one.

680 Lightning has only 2GB of RAM.

I recently upgraded from 670SLI to 780TI, the game could never been smoother. You won't be able to run this game in ultra settings, because of memory limitation. I had constant stutter which ruined the gameplay. And yes, I have 1440p display.

My friend upgraded from 680 SLI to 780 TI and has the same opinion.

Hope this helps.

I'm sure it'll be fine with max settings. Only issue is if you can afford AA higher than x2. According to my mate on 1440p with 2xgtx670 it's breaking 2gb vram when above msaax2

If gaming on 1440p is all you need then perhaps you don't need sli or crossfire. Not sure how much a 680 can sell for now, but it is worth considering and then grabbing a GTX780/R9290

That would be other option. Would a single 290 be better than SLI 680s? I figured the 680s would have a lot more grunt (although less VRAM) for similar money.

People say that you don't need as much AA when running 1440P, so SLI 680's would cope fine if you are happy turning down AA a notch.

Personally, I bought a 1440P to sit next to my 120Hz monitor and give me the 120Hz 1080P anytime over the 1440P. V-Sync is needed to stop tearing and that brings in stutter and input lag. That's my opinion though and others will justify it :)

I've never had a 120Hz monitor for perspective, but I love my 1440p monitor (Dell U2713HM) with it's crisp picture and I've not really found input lag to be a problem (sometimes it's noticeable), but I do always have Vsync on as I can't stand tearing.

As for the OPs question, 2 680s should be perfectly fine for 1440p but, as others have said, you'll probably need to turn AA down a bit on the more intense games to avoid VRAM issues.

Yer, I wouldn't say what others like is right or wrong but for me, I hate it :D I should have DSR'd it straight away but tried to make myself like it. Oh well, live and learn.

That's fair enough, I would like to try a 120Hz at some point - hopefully it's not too long before 120Hz, 1440p IPS panels become mainstream (with G-Sync as well :D)

A couple of months for that 120Hz 1440P G-Sync screen from Asus but sadly not IPS and is TN, which I will be getting as I have no issues with my Asus VG278H TTN panels :)

Currently running SLI 670's , so comparable to you. Aside from my CPU bottlenecking the cards in really intense games its a very good experience my mins/highs and avg's are much higher, It's a smooth experience 99% of the time (remember BF4 is poorly coded and optimised for now!) and the babys look beautiful in the case together :D

I can max all the games I own, and use down-sampling with AA injectors

If you can pick up a cheap 680 such as on the members market then It's worth it for sure.

something to note: My i5 doesn't cut it at 4.6ghz, frankly it looks like I need an i7. But if I didn't have an on screen display telling me my gpu usage I wouldn't know it was bottlenecked.

Hi, 4820k > 2560x1440 SLI 4GB 670 > BF4 no problems at all, if you do go 1440 use Nvidia Game Experience to optimize your game if supported.

As you don't need certain Game Settings for your GPU's at 1440.

I own four Titans and four 290Xs, which do I use most for BF4 @1600p ?

Neither, I use my old 2gb GTX 690s lol
