NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 SLI benchmarked at 4K

Kaap you have to admit the Nvidia cards took a hammering there. It's not even close. I know you like to tout titans with 6gb being the only 4k cards but most evidence so far goes against that. 4 way scaling being broke ain't much of a surprise in some games but surprised it is in Crysis 3 being a aaa title.

It's not so much that it's VRAM IIRC. 4GB isn't enough for max settings in that game when you've got the grunt to drive those settings.

If you want to drop settings then you can get good balances between the IQ and FPS (like you can in any game and graphic card) but as that is true anywhere it kind of becomes a moot point.

They are not using max settings in the crysis 3 bench.:D

The 290Xs are faster than the Titans on some things and would do well and scale well to 4 cards in other games like Sleeping Dogs and BF4(check out my 1600p SD scores).

It is pointless though using Crysis 3 as a bench for 4K though if they are not using max settings and are unable to use 4 cards to get the fps.

[Snobmode]If I couldn't run a game at max detail at 4K, I don't want it[/snobmode]

Sorry but why buy a 4K screen and turn settings down? Not me, that's for sure.

It's like arguing which snail will win the race. I couldn't care less which is faster because they're both mostly crippled and as Kaap says they're touching down the detail. Next round of cards before I even consider it.

Sometimes there's not enough gpu power to run these games even with 4 cards. Often people will want a certain frame rate as they deem it playable. You then have to adjust the settings to where you get the desired fps. In turn you use less vram. I reckon 4gb is just enough and some here with 3gb cards will say that's also fine. Max settings at 4k would be nice though but i think thats for the next gen with maybe 6 to 8gb on the cards with the grunt to drive the settings higher.

Agreed and I would be surprised if 4K is possible with next gen cards in SLI/CF. 4K TV I would love but also there isn't enough content yet to warrant the prices. A couple of years perhaps.

I dream of having a huge 40" 4K monitor so I can play Civ 5 without scrolling all round the map.:D

I'll try find it, but I'm sure I've seen a video of a guy playing civ 5 on essentially a wall of monitors showing the entire map, can't remember if it was touch screen or not though :)

I could do with that in touch panels to help lose a couple of pounds :D
