Worry for my parents, into to their 60's-70's now and they live at a family run hotel. Had kids jump over the back wall and pinching my Mums tablet through their bedroom window while they were asleep.

Yesterday yobs tried to pinch a outside table for guests in daylight!!...

They have fake cameras installed, but think its time to add some proper security!.

Can you recommend a camera that records with decent resolution quality in day and night, but is easy to setup. From slight reading these seem to be wireless now and store recorded video on SD card or upload to a cloud???

Regards back wall, is it true we cant use barb-wire anymore? As its against the law, incase you hurt the burglars? lol?

I would personally suggest guns. Lots of guns.

Barb wore etc is still legal but you do have a duty of care to people visiting your property weather or not they are trespassing is irrelevant. I think as long as the barb wire is clearly visible at the top of the fence and there is warning signs both sides you should be fine.

If its children climbing the fence and causing bother I'd probably refrain from using barb wire.

its not against the law as far as I'm aware, some people don't advise it as you may be liable to fork out for some compensation if someone injures themselves on it - perhaps consult a solicitor

I'd have thought that it wouldn't look particularly nice to have barbed wire at a small family hotel... trellis fencing would also act as an obstacle and would look a lot nicer... you might still be able to fit spikes on the top too - though I think you can get some plastic ones which cause discomfort and aren't going to be as nasty as the traditional nails, broken glass solutions people could potentially get sued over

How about not leaving windows open and tablets on display when you are not awake. :D

Oh and bolt the tables down!!

Flood light with a PIR sensor. It was useful at deterring wildlife/kids.

Or other suggestions made by others. A scarecrow perhaps?

Have you spoken to your local Police officer for advice on what measures you can take?

Why should anyone have to do that? People should be able to leave their stuff where ever they want and it not get robbed.

People who from other people make me sick. If you want something get a bloody job and work for it!

Because we live in the real world, not utopia where everyone is full of sweetness and nice.

Stands to reason if you want to keep hold of something, you look after it.

razor wire doesn't exactly instil confidence to customers, get those *****ly bushes planted at the back wall and some CCTV cameras with LED security flood lights. Depending on your budget for cameras/recording facility etc speak with some online retailers and they'll be able to talk you through the options.

A D1 resolution recorder and some 700 TVL cameras is what I have at home, but there is probably newer tech out now since I've had mine a while. HD-SDI is something I've heard being mentioned on the internet, pics don't become pixelated when zooming in playing back footage to the Police.

It was looked after, it was inside their home not left on a park bench. It doesn't matter if it was left inside a huge safe or on the window ledge. It doesn't give people the right to come into someone's home and take what isn't theirs.

Totally disagree with you and find your attitude poor!. You are basically blaming my parents instead of the scum.

There will always be low lifes in the world and to not protect your own stuff from them is careless.

Scum are still scum who shouldn't be out there thieving but until such a time that you consider the grounds where you live to be secure, then it is daft to not only go leaving the windows open at night but to leave valuable items on display.
