Dont Starve! o.o >O.O > x.x

I got this game on PC what feels like years ago when it was in early beta......I downloaded it for free with the PSN Sub on the PS4 and its changed so much.

Was addictive back then.....can see me sinking lots of time into this again.

What are peoples tips for winter? Just hitting my first one and I feel unprepared - only have earmuffs and I havent stocked up on any food!

Though I do have a gnome and Chester now :)

EDIT: **** I died attacking Beefalos with a spear thinking their fur would be useful for winter - what a dumbass :(

I've found the best way is to save food constantly before winter. During winter nothing grows much but you can still catch rabbits etc. What I have done is below:
What I have done is set up a big base camp, plant loads of pine cones and dig up and then re-plant near base camp berry bushes, grass tufts and sapling things. The saplings don't require fertilizer to grow.
I then create the stone fire pits at various distances from the base camp and have chests along the way. Build loads and loads of traps and try and fill up the chests with Live rabbits pre-winter.
I haven't got a hat or built a coat but find a good supply of wood, the heat stone and his beard seems to get me from fire pit to fire pit. I also built some crock pots and a few drying racks - the jerky doesn't spoil as quickly so it’s useful. A few bee boxes is a good bet as well as Honey seems to last for a while without spoiling.
I also built a lot of improved farms, managed to get a dragon fruit and then fed this to the bird in the birdcage and you can get multiple dragon seeds. Repeat this a few times and you have a constant supply. One of these and 3 berries or twigs creates a dragon pie which fixes loads of hunger.
Sanity wise, I pick flowers and create that hat thing made with 12 flowers which seems to work fine.
Keeping a good supply of pine cones and planting if a big tree thing comes over seems to calm them.
If I get attacked by hounds etc. I equip a spear, a footy helmet and a logsuit and just try and run round the big tree thing so he takes care of them.
Also built an icebox which keeps food for longer but think this was after winter.

Hmmm only rabbits around - I deffo need to prepare for winter better than - I dont want that dragon bag thing after me.
Im not sure if hes triggered when trapping innocent creatures or when you murder them though...
Whats the best character in the game? Im finding it hard to get rid of Willow myself...

Only played as Wilson so far but on day 70 odd though at the moment
Trapping is fine, your sanity decreases when you murder them though.
I pick flowers and the flower hat to stop sanity draining too much
Another thing that I didn't do and almost died was I had a touchstone near my main base (good) but didn't have any wood or fuel near by (carried most of it with me). Almost properly died after getting resurrected after dying in a cave and as it was winter I couldn’t find anything to light my main fire with and no axe. I managed to find some reeds and a spare heat stone in one of my crates and could start a fire to stop freezing. Then got back to the cave and picked up my stuff.

currently survived to day 9 last night (I only get about 40 mins - 90 mins a night spare time for any gaming), really having fun. I've been tempted to cheat a little and read the wiki, but am having a ball learning from scratch

How are the control ons the PS4... I always thought its one of those mouse and keyboard games only but I guess the adjustment would be too hard.

Ive used the wikia mainly to work out storing/killing/avoiding/making x,y,z is gonna useful short/long term. Knowing my life hangs in the balance so to speak kinda hinders some exploring. Trust me with a lot of things you just wont guess it ;)

Ive only recently got in my head that having a camp early on is somewhat of a hindrance and with death around the corner any camp investment should be disposable til winter is a consideration. Making a decent camp then losing it cos of a DS-like poor decision is so annoying!

That was the plan when I was going to read. However I've only played a couple of hours and have died a fair few times. I'll die a few more before checking up :)

Tried it for 5 mins, didnt know what I was meant to do, so went back to the ps3! I have found all the free ps+ games for ps4 to be utterly dull so far unfortunately.
Desperately waiting for some decent titles to be released.

Addicted to this now, sadly I am terrible and my longest time so far is 8 days, not sure if was the planting of the trees or the chopping down that caused the ent thing to appear...

5 minutes probably isn't the greatest amount of time to judge a game in.

Think that is more a reflection of your poor taste than of the games themselves

Always keep pine cones on you when you get wood in case they turn up - planting a few of those near them will usually make them happy...

Been playing this a lot recently, right down my street this is, love it! And being free on PS+ is a real bonus.

Anyone know if we will get the DLC (Reign of Giants) that is coming to the PS4 soon for free on PS+? I'll happily pay for it, but everyone loves a freebie :)
