Hey guys,

I thought about posting this in the big bike thread but my question may get lost pretty quickly, anyway...

I have a commencal premier plus 2011 (although most components have been upgraded).
I ride to work which is a mixture of road and light XC and on the weekends I like to ride my local trails, nothing too extreme.

I weight 65KG

I would like to get a wheelset that is reasonably light but durable enough for my off road adventures, my budget is about £340.

I've been looking at the following:

Mavic MTB crosstrail Disc: http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/mavic-mtb-wheel-set-26-crosstrail-disc-640113/aid:640115

Easton EA90 XC: http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Easton-EA90-XC-26-inch-MTB-Wheel_61857.htm

Or Hope pro 2 evo: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/hope-pro-2-evo-on-mavic-xm319-rear-wheel/rp-prod113844 + Front wheel.

Please feel free to make a suggestion, must be within budget, 26in and suitable for my riding.

Cheers.

I was going to suggest http://www.wiggle.co.uk/hope-hoops-pro2-evo-mtb-wheelset-1/ but the crests may be too light and arch ex are out of stock but you could look in the usual places.

Mavic and Easton are nice but they use their own spokes and getting spares can be tricky/expensive compared to getting one normal spoke for the hope wheels.

Ok thanks, I may opt for the hope hoops then as I don't want to have any trouble getting replacement spokes ETC.. (I've had a similar issue with Magura, trying to get a replacement bolt).
Only thing is I think the hub clicking on the hopes would drive me crazy :(

Thanks for your reply. :)

I have the Mavic wheelset and availability of Mavic spokes is pretty widespread. Hubs and parts for hubs not so much so I'd probably go for the Hopes too.

Ah ok thanks, another vote for the Hopes then
superstar got any deals on at the moment?

:o Forgot all about Superstar... I'll have a look to and see if they have any deals on.

Cheers.

Last time I checked mavic sell the spokes to me sided so end up being expensive just to replace one spoke.

Online shops sell them individually but when we buy a pack in and sell one we sit with loads spare. I think I must have about 40 of various ksyrium road spokes!

Freehub bodies etc are all easy enough to order.

Just pulled the trigger on a set of custom hope pro 2 evo's with ZTR crest rims from moonglu.
I think the rims will be strong enough for me after looking at a few reviews, I hope I made the right choice.

Anyway thanks everyone for your input :)
