LG G FLEX - first curved, bendable and self healing smartphone official thread

Better safer, battery life - curved battery technology means that the g flex battery fills the entire body of phone maximising battery capacity (3,500mAh). The battery is also flexible so won't be damaged.

That is the main part - and only part at the minute - that interests me.

Its a load of rubbish.
Lumina 1520 is very similar size, exactly the same depth and just slightly longer and wider and has a 3400mah battery. Safer and won't be damaged, when the last time a phone battery was damaged or unsafe.

Pretty much every bullet point is rubbish. Cinematic view is the most laughable.

As I said the technology is great and exciting but not in this format.

Can only really use the phone, one way astound, can't rest it down.

I honestly don't know how such a device would ever make it into production, yes maybe a few developments handsets but who in all honestly would see that as a mass production viable device?

I'm sure someone somewhere in LG must be paid for market research and I'd love to see the data they used that suggested that a curved screen was on the wanted list of consumers.

First of all get over the cinematic view thing, its not a main point but it is cool. The better viewing angles and easier to use display are not gimicks, the lack of as much glare is not a lie. You sound like you have a personal hate of LG for some reason.

I have a 1520, it is a fantastic phone but its not comfortable to hold and use compared to the G Flex and until you hold them both side by side you can't appreciate what I am saying. When it is out then go try it in a store.

I am totally unbiased. I have every phone possible and have tried every phone and this phone is outstanding.

As far as market research goes... there is demand. People knew about this phone before I even said anything. I've only ever seen that with the iPhone and Galaxy S4.

So far it seems that no one here realises that but wait until it is out and then you will see....

Unbiased apart from the rose tinted glasses.
People are interested as its different, that doesn't mean they'll run out and get one. They can't fit a bigger battery in. If you've ever taken a phone to bits all available room is taken up. The treason they need it is because they've decided to curve a phone for no other reason that first to market, not to fit a bigger battery in.

Cinematic view isn't cool as it doesn't exist, it doesn't take up enough of your viewing angle and size and distance doesn't help either.

What's different is the way in which the battery is flexible, rather than a rigid block like every other battery out there. That allows batteries to be shaped, for a better internal layout and greater capacity.

But I agree, the phone isn't something to get excited about.
