Bike got stolen :( vfr 800 owners please come in

VFR800's are good bikes, they hold their value and are well liked by people that have had one. I had one for about 8 months and loved it. Decent handling, very reliable (didn't have mine that long, but all the reviews I read say so), excellent headlights, good breaks, great build quality. Power on tap isn't massive, but the motor has character, plenty for general touring and quick enough to have fun on. And I love the V4 soundtrack.

what year did you have?

I shall be buying a set of very very big chains, to keep at each house i regularly park at lol.

Note that the big service (inc. valve clearances) is fairly expensive on the VFR, so if you find one approaching a multiple of 16k you may need to factor that in.

If you want something with loads of grunt, have you considered a GSF1250S?

Theft from normal folk is the lowest of the low. Its up there with murder in my eyes and yet when the scroats are caught they get a slap wrist as mummy was unkind to them.

Minimum 5 years or 3 and hard labour.

Hiya mate, I've not got the VFR800 I've got the last of the VFR750R R reg - last of the carbed ones.
My bike was voted best all rounder 10 years in a row & after having mine a fair while I can understand why. The bike will do pretty much anything, Cruise around at walking pace through tight traffic or hit 150 when you want to warm yourself up a bit. Everything just works & works well, Mine does have an uprated Rectifier which is the only weak point on the VFR.
One thing that really stands out to me is how confident it makes you feel, With my ZXR everything was instant & raw where as the VFR feels refined & smooth. Some people say it takes a fair bit of turning at speed but either my size negates that or I am not riding it hard enough to notice.
Any specific questions then ask away.

Yeah I had a cbr rectifier died on that, first thing I'll ask any owner is has the rectifier been.changed an if not I'll be changing it myself.first thing.

sounds good malc you ever had much luggage etc on there?

I'm so glad you asked that question. :D

I have a rack to go on it & a top box which I brimmed & then had my Mulberry Rucksack on my back with a Big Lego collection box in it for my Grandson & rode down the M6 - A14 & pass Stansted airport for that lovely stretch of new Drag strip towards Colchester, About a 2 hour run with me at 6ft 5 & fields beside me the majority of the way, No probs at all, If you can do it then the bike will do it better.
I'm in a "I can do anything" mode with my VFR. :p

Future plans with mine is a big Euro Tour, My Frank staffy dog is 13 in March so I'll lose him in the coming years. I plan on getting on my bike & just ******* off to avoid all the upsetting "Where's Frank" questions.
I've also been tied to Frank so have been limited for a long time so am looking forwards to riding out & not having to come back.

Brilliant :D

will spend the time saving up an waiting for payment an my injury claim from last crash to come through an get a nice vfr an some good camping gear for the summer :D

@Rossi That first one is a 750 same as mine & about a £1000 over priced, I payed £1750 for mine with about 26k up it & it's in excellent condition with untold paperwork. Bought it off the Son who got it off his Dad.

Can't comment on the 800 as I have no buying experience of them, check out VFR forums.

Oh & the 750's will do 100k miles no probs.

I wonder what the vfr1200's are like?

best thing I like about the vfr's are the gear driven cams instead of a chain

Not sure that it's over priced any more than any other dealer bike tbh. It very clean and tidy with 15k miles on it. Like I said, get it down to near £2k easy I'm sure.

the fact they're honda bomb proof tanks built by engineers rather than accountants is why i like themso much :p
