I admit the 7cm pan is a bit silly but the guitar, I don't think it is.

First, I've not lost any money on it, in fact, with the latest price hike, I am probably in profit as they just gone up $300 over night for a new one. Besides, I've seen people buy all sorts of things here more than this, I recall someone spent over £2k on Lego not long ago, I mean after he's built it...it'll just sit there? Also I have this kind of nightmare that on my deathbed I have this regret I've never learn any instrument so exactly that, you only live once. If I can't hack it, then I can't hack it. At least i've given it a go, if spending £1200 on a guitar isn't reason enough then spending £200 probably wouldn't. The point here is no regret.

And I can sell it tomorrow pretty much what I paid for it, that's the advantage of getting an American guitar instead of say a cheaper one.

I've played it every day since I got it :)

I didn't mean it to come off like that. I think the pan is kinda cute actually :3

The pan is dead cute! Hands up who's ever seen one before :p

But it's just an expensive side dish bowl, that's all it really is, I don't deny that.

they are cool to have. come in handy sometimes. i use them for my peppercorn sauce on steak night. just watch they can tarnish very easy. we have about 40 in the work and they are all down to the bare metal now.

Seen one and had something similar, found it utterly pointless, to small for anything other than presentation. Then you need at least 4 and only comes out at dinner parties.

The top of my short list atm is a Blackstar HT-5R, it's only 5w but it's more than enough for home use.

Consider the Blackstar ID:15 instead.
I've just gone from a Marshall TSL602 to the ID30 and it's changed my life because it is about 10x lighter and it faces me on stage like a monitor so for the first time in years I can hear myself.
My lead guitarist is shortly going from a TSL602 to an ID60.

£1200 on a guitar is ludicrous because its HIS FIRST GUITAR.

£1200 ON A FIRST GUITAR is insane, he might turn out to suck at playing or maybe not even enjoy playing!

Back in the 80s my work colleagues first guitar & amp were a brand new Gibson Les Paul Standard and a brand new Marshall 100 watt stack :D
He lasted 3 months before somebody else got a bargain.

Hahaha I've been ordered to "sort out the **** state of the cables behind the unit in the lounge" while the AV receiver is off for repair, so that means make cables and that, right?
I think so.

Yeah, this was my initial reaction.

I suppose it's all relative but that said, there's no way I'd recommend anything near a grand to spend on a first guitar.

Buying new baffles me too, guitars get better with age.

Fair enough, Raymond. Best of luck to you! Take a look at this:
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/guitar-allinone-for-dummies-cheat-sheet.html

You can see how the notes move around on the fret board. So, when you're playing higher notes, you can move up strings instead of frets (that's the basic principle), so there's a lot less movement necessary, which can prevent you playing as fast as you'd like :)

Then you'll get the brigade saying "you spent £1,200 on a USED guitar?" lol :p, and since these things go for around that much second hand anyway, and I would've had to travel god knows where in the country for it since they are normally a pick up only item, the petrol costs would make it more expensive buying secondhand.

Not to mention this guitar was first released in 2005, they don't sell many of them so they are not that old to begin with and those that do might just be a year or 2 old.
