£1200? Srsly?

You should see the price tag of some limited edition ones...mine is a "standard".

As for music, I grew up listening to Oasis, U2, but since it has gone backwards and these days I listen to a lot of Taylor Swift. Lol

It's an expensive hobby!

I got a new guitar the other week which I forgot to post so here goes. Its the left one:

Fender JA-90 Thinline Telecaster - Beautiful!

In order...
Fender JA-90
Fender Roadworn Player Strat
Fender Tom Delonge Strat
Gibson ES335 Tom Delonge
Fender Mark Hoppus Bass
Taylor 114CE

I used to have 14 guitars at one point but it got to a point where I was running out of space and money! :p

Somebody like their Fenders :p

From what I've read, as I've not tried a Gibson ES355, the T5 can make a sound just like it or very very close to it.

Its a very cool guitar the T5, lovely at that, as I say it's just a in between guitar trying to be both but not fully successfully doing that. You should get an amp to get more out of it, you can mess around then and get a tone you like etc.

I've got a Vox AC30HW2, recommend Vox or Orange tbh, but If you don't want to spend that much Marshall etc have some great combo amps.

Nice, well if you ever need any help or advice don't be afraid to message me or anything :) you'll get addicted once you start putting the stuff you've learnt together. Enjoy!!!

£1200 on a guitar is ludicrous because its HIS FIRST GUITAR.

£1200 ON A FIRST GUITAR is insane, he might turn out to suck at playing or maybe not even enjoy playing!

I agree, I can't believe you spent that much money!! My whole collection of guitars (fender P bass, epiphone less Paul, random fretless bass, random acoustic guitar (with a lovely neck), a fender dreadnought acoustic, an Eko 12 string (which I don't like) and a couple of other crappy guitars) cost about that much. Only the p bass is high end, but I've been playing on and off since I was 16 (24 now). All though I'm not wonderful, I love to play.

Still, you've encouraged me to spend my bonus on a new acoustic as mine lacks volume in the body. My bandmate and I want to start gigging again, so it's a good excuse too :p

I love the mini Taylor 314s (is this the ce??). A friend has two and they're brilliant to play and so easy to lug around. Really nice sound from such a small guitar too - it's the kind of guitar that asks you to play it, which is what I'm looking for now.

I have to say, I've not played one, but an epiphone dove, although I'm not sure that that's actually the name.

If you're truly serious about learning and want to progress and can see it as a lifetime hobby its not ludicrous. A lot of people are happy to pay 100 for their first but tbh this can put them off playing because the guitar sounds so crap and them sounding crap too just totals a big load of crapness. It's nice to learn an instrument on a quality one. If you have the money spare too, why not.

Well Raymond obviously has money to burn, so let him be! £30 mini pans for beans and £1200 beginners guitars doesn't make any sense to most people I expect, but it's his money and if he enjoys his purchases then that's the main thing :)

I've just spied a Monitor Audio GSLCR I reaaaaaaaaaallly want to buy. I need a centre speaker, which I can't justify, buuuuut in my head I can, so you know. It's not the what I want to buy thread, but you know. Tough.

Go check out eBay how much these go for secondhand, I paid less than £1200 for a new one.

But isn't it what they say, buy the guitar that you want to play?

Besides, people drop £1k easy on a DSLR and some lenses when they started out, it's all relative.

The 314 is a full size, only the GS mini is small, they also do a GA mini I think and a baby taylor and a big baby taylor. Just had a look, Taylor has raised the price for the T5 for 2014 by $300!

Plus, more so. It's your money :) I personally wouldn't spend £30 on a 7cm pan, but it's your money so yanno :L

There is a story to the 7cm pan, dated way back to 2009, it's not really about the money, I've been searching for it for 5 years!

The only way to get good is to keep playing, so if you can afford it you should get the guitar that says "play me" every time you look at it :D

£1,200 is a big punt for a first guitar. Mind you, I bought a Gibson Flying V when I was a teenager and that remained my most expensive possession for a number of years. My first car and my first couple of motorbikes all cost less!

That's still mental :p

I admit the 7cm pan is a bit silly but the guitar, I don't think it is.

First, I've not lost any money on it, in fact, with the latest price hike, I am probably in profit as they just gone up $300 over night for a new one. Besides, I've seen people buy all sorts of things here more than this, I recall someone spent over £2k on Lego not long ago, I mean after he's built it...it'll just sit there? Also I have this kind of nightmare that on my deathbed I have this regret I've never learn any instrument so exactly that, you only live once. If I can't hack it, then I can't hack it. At least i've given it a go, if spending £1200 on a guitar isn't reason enough then spending £200 probably wouldn't. The point here is no regret.

And I can sell it tomorrow pretty much what I paid for it, that's the advantage of getting an American guitar instead of say a cheaper one.

I've played it every day since I got it :)
