Added value is added value, export or not. If there is added value then how can anything be a drain? Certainly not on us as a nation considering the manufacturers are mostly German and Japanese. If it didn't make financial sense then they wouldn't operate the plants.

It's also not true that all the parts are imported, there's plenty of work going on in the supply chain for new cars. I clearly remember hearing the stat that each job in car manufacturing creates 10 more in the supply chain.

They specifically mentioned companies who make parts for cars all over the world. They featured a british gearbox manufacturer and a british clutch manufacturer.

Good episode to finish series with TWo, yeah TWO proper car reviews... made the program so much more digestible :-)

Great ending with Uk showing good form on the building...

Still, looking forward to it. As much as the programme can be frustrating and awful at times it still is entertaining, and as I seldom watch TV it gives me something to watch!

I don't understand why they don't do a Christmas special anymore; the specials come at the end of the series?

Pretty sure Clarkson tweeted a while ago that the Christmas special is on in March! Unless he was taking the pee.

I think the first episode of the season will be on the 2nd of February going by what Clarkson said a while ago that they film on the Wednesday and it goes out on the Sunday. This should be pretty accurate because hopefully I will be in the audience on the third episode

Edit* Unless there are 6 episodes and the first one (probably the christmas special) has already been filmed.

This is likely to mean 5 normal episodes starting in Jan, then the Christmas special at the end of the run in March.

Heads up; as previously mentioned by me that it's returning on the 26th January 2014. I can confirm after viewing the tv guide, it does NOT appear to show it coming on this sunday.

2nd of Feburary 2014 seems next bet, and is also being said on FB.
