MSI GTX780TI Lightning!

Nvidia started this on the 680, even forced EVGA to remove EV-Bot. So i'm a little surprised Nvidia are letting EVGA run 1.4v

Allowing high volts on GPU's inevitably results in higher returns, just because a GPU has 1.4v volts or whatever available does not mean it can handle it.
There are idiots out there with no electronic sympathy who unbox their new GPU, stick it in the case and the first thing they do is load up MSI AB, move all the sliders all the way to the right and then fire up Furmark, 10 minutes in after paying no attention to artifacting, flickering and horrendous coil whine something on the PCB or the GPU its self goes *Pop* and thats the end of its short life.

If you can't move the sliders far enough to the right to kill it, Nvidia save money and look better in the RMA rankings.

Its perfectly understandable why they do it, but it does take something away from the GPU if your an experienced enthusiast wanting to play.

nVidia said to EVGA, "by all means, add more volts but if you get cards returned, we will not replace them", so from a business POV, EVGA removed the connector for the EVbot on the 680's.

Bad on nVidia and a shame because people like me love to overclock but nVidia kill the fun.

I doubt that very much. NV will not allow it.

EVbot does everything you need it to. Core, mem, pll and OCP. What else could EVbot2 actually do that would be of any use??

780 Ti Lightening in BE board OS installed and driver testing underway. Vantage, FS and FSX first. 100 litres of LN2 in hand ;)

Perhaps a new evbot is just an upgraded screen/user interface? Or maybe its been tailored to not completely **** NV off? :p

Nice work, only 12 in the world :D. And you're covering it in ice.

I want one. Actually I don't, I want 1.4v available on my ref card first :D

They sent me two for SLI. For sure no LN2 = Time wasting!!

NVIDIA will stop it!! For sure!!

So did they send 2 cards each to 6 guys? Kinda feel bad for MSI here, but dunno if they got the cojones to stand up to Nvidia. EVGA just about scraped through with the 780 Ti Classified bios issues recently and frankly I was shocked they got Nvidia to agree to the voltage switches on the Kingpin.

EVGA does have the advantage/disadvantage however you look at it is they only do nvidia's gpu. guess if EVGA said to nvidia hey see this new Classifed 290x we might have to make instead nvidia might of said ok :P

Maybe they didn't? Surely its possible for evga to sign away all warranty rights with nvidia on the chips used so they can do as they please, may go some way to explaining the £200 premium over the regular classy.

I think I recall EVGA saying that the company who made the bot went under or don't offer the parts anymore... requiring a new bot to be designed.

I think this is more likely to be the case. When EVGA released the 680 Classy, nVidia kicked up and said "if the RMA it, we won't replace it", so this extra mark up is covering EVGA probably.

Latest official word was that the company making them required a pretty large order to even make them anymore, sounds a bit like BS to me me but they did say a new one is being designed.
