Hey guys!

I'm planning a pre-honeymoon trip to Edinburgh sometime this Spring with my fiancée. Neither of us have ever been to Edinburgh before and I'm hoping to surprise her with the trip and itinerary. I was wondering if any of you had suggestions of things to do, or see, or where abouts to stay/avoid. I was thinking of a small 3 night get-away.

You're help would be greatly appreciated!

It it's a nice day, take a wander up Arthurs seat. It's not a long walk (less than an hour) and the views from the top let you see all over the city, and over to Fife.

I moved up in August, but still haven't done many of the touristy things. Arthur's seat is recommended as suggested. The botanical gardens are pretty and worth a visit. It's probably worth doing one of the guided tours of some of the underground spaces - I found the Real Mary King Street a little underwhelming and preferred the tour of the North Bridge Vaults. You'll find lots of different companies offering similar things, but I suspect a lot of the enjoyment comes down to which guide you end up with...

Castle, Zoo, Arthurs Seat, do the open top bus tour, botanical gardens, go see the forth rail bridge.

If your into going out / bars etc, have a look at tiger lily to stay in, I'm sure she'd like that.

Thanks guys, that's given me a good start! Hadn't thought of the open bus tours, seen them around in London but they never really appealed to me. Will look into Tiger Lily, estimates of amount of spendage I'm looking at for a good 3 day stay?

Depends what you are into really - some nice places in George Street - the Dome is pretty nice for a meal and cocktail.

Seeing the Royal Britannia yacht was a surprisingly good afternoon out. I expected to be fully bored but it really was cracking.

Regular buses down to the Sea front as well

Take a wander round Holyrood Palace, great audio guide included. Castle? Get tickets in advance and be there for the 1 o'clock gun.

Food wise. No 1 at Balmoral is fantastic. Very romantic. Tigerlilly is alright, but not wonderful.

Hotels? The Witchery, if you want to spend the money. I'd rather save the cash and use it on dinner.

Do a ghost tour, they are pretty entertaining.

The photo experience thing (can't remember what it's called) near the castle is pretty good! Only a few of them in the world too.
