Basically I'm nearly 21 i've been driving since 17 and while the two cars I've had (Astra 1.4 and Leon 1.8) have been perfectly adequate and i've enjoyed driving them I'm ready for something more exciting.

The two cars i've got in mind at the moment are a the Clio 172/182 and the Celica T sport, i'd love and Mx5 or something along those lines but I really can't do without the seats at the moment so has anyone got any suggestions of exciting cars for under 3k?

One car I should rule out because I'm sure it will get suggested is an ep3 Civic type R I just don't like them i'm afraid.

I already have a Leon and find it dynamically quite boring to drive a cupra is just more powerful I think, between and St and a Clio the Clio wins hands down for me so it looks like thats the main option.

Not VXR. I love mine, they look great and are very quick. They're just not reliable and the gearbox is nowhere near good enough.

Be different and get a Celica T sport. You'll enjoy lift. I love it in my Corolla. It's reliable and fun to drive. Can't beat the Japs at reliability.

I vote for the clio, I am selling my 182 and will be super sad to see it go. :)
You can pick up some really great examples for little money now too.

I do like the idea of these, apparently you have to work hard to get the performance is that true? I like the idea of that if I'm honest I also like the look of the driving position and interior but it seems to bebhard to find a decent T sport.

On the other hand these really appeal as they're so easy to find and I hear they are great fun to drive.

Looked at a TSport Corolla?

Does it have to be a hatchback? If not you're well into E46 territory and for 3k you can get a tidy 325/328 or the occasional 330.

It's entirely subjective because to some people an AE86 Corolla would be infinitely more exciting than a TSport Corolla.

I've heard the Corrolas handle like tanks, for me exciting is something that handles well and can teach me something about driving that my first two cars haven't been able too, I would love an e46 but I worry about the running costs at this point in my life.

The Face lift Corolla handles fine. Yeah there's a little roll and its not as good as the Clio or Civic. Get a Celica and I'm sure that will handle much better as the chasis is set up differently.

I wouldn't say you have to work it to get the most out of it. Its the same as vtec. The power is at the very top of the rev range. I find it easy to drive and keep on the power. Plus there's enough mid range to get it moving along swimmingly.

Keep an eye out for a Face lift corolla cause I got mine for a tad over £2500. I'm sure you'll find a Celica as well

Only got a 140 Celica but love it to bits. Hard to find a decent one though without going miles and miles to view it
