I recently got a 7950 and using msi afterburner I manage to get a stable overclock of 910/1450. Does this seem low? Have I just got a weak card.

I've seen other people go up to 1000/1500 with no issues and it seems to be the norm but mine will not go over 910 for the core without crashing.

Have you tried increasing the voltage and what are temps like under load?

No, I'll be honest I've never had a GPU before this one as I've only just decided to start PC gaming so my knowledge on GPU's is limited. I'm a little worried about tweeking voltages as I don't want to damage the card.

I ran kombustor for about 15mins 4 times in a row and max temp was 78* at 100% load. I thought this was ok.

What's a safe limit to put the voltage up to? I'm sure others manage 1000 core frequency easily without touching voltages though.

1. Stop using Kombuster.
2. Read this.

I really wish I had come across this guide when I was playing with my 7950 and TriXX. It is a little too late for me as I am moving to a new 780 Ti build shortly.

Even with TriXX I got to 1025/1450/1.125V easily and only decided to stop because the fans were beginning to ramp up under bench load. There was certainly room for more.

I might try upping the voltage a bit first. I'm not looking for big numbers but I would like 1000/1450 as I think my current numbers are low. If I can't I will follow the guide to get a little more out of it.

Whats the make of your card? I have cf msi twin 3 default clock 960.

Just had a little play with voltages and nothing seems to work at on 1100 or 1000 without temps going high. At 910 with 0.906V they still go above 85* (I stopped it there because I didn't want to cause any damage!)

I use Furmark for testing.

Stop using Furmark, try Heaven or Valley or play some games.
What fan settings are you using?
Max I can achieve on my 7950s iis in my sig and thats with 1.081v with (LtMatt's bios) and they never go near the 80s if my fan profile is set 1:1.

Ok so I managed to get a stable OC. Does this look ok.

1000/1500 @ 1.026V.
Heaven Benchmark - 1422 - FPS 56.4 - Max -100.7 Min - 28.2

Max temps 78*C with fans running at 75% (little louder than I like but ok).

Anything above 1000 core frequency with upto 1.035V (and I don't really want to go any higher) seems to crash so I'll stick with that.
