Hey all,

I was looking at all the stuff I'll need for my new build and as I was planning on resleeving the PSU cables, I thought surely its not that much further to go to make them from scratch to begin with?

That way I can make sure I have the perfect length cables, and will help the sleeving process (by removing the step of taking the cables apart)

It seems to me I'm only going to have to buy wire as an extra, as new connector's, pins(just in case of damage when removing) and sleeving were already on the list.

If I'm missing a major hic-up here Please let me know now

depends how you wanna do it? There are varying levels of shrink wrap and braiding available.
You can pay from £20 up to £150 to do a PSU, depending on the quality you want.

Lets change the question a bit then
Well Lets assume I would be Sleeving/changing the connectors any cables I would get with a modular PSU, Would the extra cost to make new cables be much more?

Surely the cost of the wire isn't through the roof? (here's where I get corrected :p )

Obviously I could adjust the length of the cables, but I'd rather have a fallback set of cables.

If something happened to the PSU, wouldn't sleeving the cables invalidate the warranty? Buying premade extensions means the PSU is completely unmodified.

UL1007 18AWG cable can be bought for £3 for 10 Metres on a popular auction site. At work we pay around 8p per Metre for the same cable. I've no idea how much one would need to do a complete PSU though.

Yeah, I feared some kind of bulk buy/trade discount you undercut any saving I could make :(

I suppose it could just boil down to pricing it all up and asking how much I trust my skills
But of course I think I'm awesome :D
