I know the ghz is the the better performing card . But realistically with the offer on today i am hugely tempted by the OC version its £100 cheaper than the GHZ . Is there that much of a Difference .
Ive always had Asus or Msi .What are gigabyte like as gpu makers ive never had one before ?

Good question. I bought the non-GHz model, later to realize both cards are the same. The only difference is the BIOS and lack of GHz logos.

The review samples had reference PCB, while retail TOCs are custom. I bought it at the price of reference card, great deal.

Here's the PCB.

Have you clocked yours higher?

The GHz edition has a backplate, not that anyone will see that when it's stuck in a case.

Tempted to get the non-GHZ myself and use the modded skyn3t bios for the above card so it runs at a 1045 base clock, should clock better with the slight voltage jump.

Not binned anyway, doesn't matter too much. Unless they come out and say it's a specific revision (like B1 with the 780 Ghz) then it's not worth it.

You'll still be in the sillicon lottery regardless.

WhyCry from VideoCardz.com?

Yes, that's me.

I'm not really an overclocker, so I only tried a minimal bump in clock speeds. It runs at 1.2GHz without a problem, but fans where spinning too loud, so I went back to stock settings. Also it has Hynix memory, which only reached 7.4 GHz clock.

Good card overall, but it has a coil whine in 3dmark.

I've read a few reviews of the 780Ti Windforce OC and they were only able to increase the base clock by 30MHz, maybe they are locked at hardware level to make the GHz one more desirable?

Maybe the skyn3t BIOS sorts it out? I wonder if the GHz BIOS works on this?

Probably hitting the power limit. Though it could also be review sample is a bit of a poor clocker. 30mhz offset on a base clock of 1020 is going to give you an effective boost if temps allow of 1165-1180. So with no additional voltage that's quite tidy. Adding 30mhz offset will take you over 1200mhz on stock voltage. Which obviously may not necessarily be stable on many cards.

Do the reference ones run really quiet at 1200MHz?

Knowing my luck i'll buy this, then within a week or two the UK will be flooded with GHz Editions at around £530 if that lol.

EDIT: Just had a nice email from somewhere... patience is a virtue, now I wait till next week!! ;) :)

Welcome to the forums :)

Yeah it's him he took a punt at my comment on his wonderful speculations :D

I can only apologise for not being a fan of misinformation lol

I like Videocardz.com and sure, some of it is speculation but as a hardware nerd, I love all the info regardless if it is right or wrong.

Depends, if you can get one that will run without any voltage increments and you've got good air flow. But you'd have to have a fairly good card and at least a large side intake or similar. Out of my three none will do 1200Mhz on stock voltage, and require a considerable change in fan profile with 75mv+ increment to maintain boost. So your chances are fairly weak lol.

Skyn3t BIOS and increased power limit will keep your boost clocks up but quietly no.

TBH I'm a fan of the site and have posted links before in the past, but I was only talking in fact and commenting on how that article was written, as there is no definitive proof currently whether or not we will even see a black shroud let alone Titan 'Black Edition' with uncompromised compute or 'Ti'. Unless he wants to clarify that. Also, I was caught off guard ;).

Meant no disrespect to the website or the face behind it, only the contradicting 6GB news we're being fed. I'd of preferred an elaboration on the article than a surprise bumming, but I apologise WhyCry :)

Thanks, I'm reading these forums for years, but made an account recently.

Slightly offtopic:

I made a post about 6GB variant even before 780 Ti was released. At the time NVIDIA planned a 780TI Black, even vendor reps didn't know exactly when it launches. Later it turned out to be a TITAN, but I couldn't confirm it was called "BLACK EDITION" until this week.

People need to realize that the sooner I make the post, the higher the possibility things can change. I often need to decide whether to post it based on my current knowledge or wait till confirmation appears.

I once wrote a post with 650 TI specs, which I had directly from manufacturer's datasheet. As it turned out it didn't have 576 CUDA cores, but 768. I was surprised

On topic:
Don't worry about poor GB 780 TI TOC results in reviews, most of them, if not all, were based on reference card with just windforce cooler attached.

I like the backplate on my non-ti GHZ edition - not only makes the card look nicer it helps to hold it rigid and seems its good for a small handful of percent better temps. However its only worth an extra £20-30 IMO - the extra £80-90 odd between the ti models is a big ask for not a huge amount extra.

Understood, you're obviously not the only site that works this way, but with WCCF posting regarding a 6gb Ti as apposed to a Titan it's all very up in the air and we are getting contradicting rumours. For the record I wouldn't believe them over your own site in a million years. No doubt someone from that site will pop up any minute now ;)

My reference card runs pretty quiet at 1200Mhz, though I can downvolt it a few notches.

Let's just say the lesser spotted GHZ Edition variety is about to become more common. Seeya price hike it was good while it lasted... The communistic monopoly is about to end lol.

The reviews I've seen of the GHZ cards are clocking higher when overclocked. None of the reviews report the voltages used. Makes me wonder if the GHZ edition is running at a default higher voltage compared to the OC version.

would have thought all the best GPU's would be going to the Classified and Kingpin's cards. Good to see you got a good one thefogo.

I have the OC version, unable to increase or decrease the volts on this card without doing the MSI hack or what ever you wanna call it, i did do this myself and i could not better my highest overclock even at 1.3 so best mine will do is 1280Mhz, thing is im certain i could do this on less than 1.2 but sadly did not have a play around as i dont use MSI AB at the mo, still for £520 its a great buy compared to the rest of the ti's

Edit: plus 130Mhz is the max i could push this card for a firestrike run

Did you use the Skyn3t BIOS for this card at all?
