So I just logged into my account to see my latest bill. I'm no longer paying via direct debit was going to pay all in one go. When I noticed from Dec 03 to Jan 22nd. I have been charged £210.80. That's a 7 week period, does this seem normal? Are their any cheaper providers?

Yep, heating.

Pay almost double in winter, or half in summer depending how you look at it, which is why DD is better, over pay in summer, under pay in winter. Spreads the cost out.

Cheaper providers almost certainly, but no one can tell you as it depends on area and usage. You need to spend a hard days work putting together a spread sheet and search sites for ages to find the actual rates. Avoid comparison sites like the plague.

Seems about right. Ours was £187.14 for the 8 weeks leading up Jan 10th.
I presume you are submitting meter readings?

Ah ok so you think that amount £210 is per the norm for 7 weeks?

I was like woah when I saw it :p

Yep about 140 a month at the moment and 60-70 in summer and in between in the in between months.
So pay £95 by direct debit which coves it pretty well and keep an eye on it. I've chucked am extra 30 in now and again.

Just had the same shock with our new house. First gas bill came in at $190. But the house is huge so it is probably about right.

You do realise your December's direct debit bounced and no payment was taken for this month either? At least that's how I'm reading the bill.

I cancelled Direct Debit payments as they take them to early in the month, I get paid at funny times :p Now I can pay when there's plenty of money in tha bank.

I'm paying as I go now, it shouldn't effect the charges for period Dec to Jan? That 7 week period for £200+ seemed like a lot, but seems a few here think it's ok..

I see, I thought I'd just point it out in case you'd overlooked it.

How are the energy charges generated? Do you put a meter reading in, then do they generate bill with those charges?

I would put your meter readings in again, sometime today. It doesn't matter if you've just put them in a day or two ago or months ago. But it seems they've either estimated your usage wrong or they've been given wrong readings.
