Chicken in Five Spice Sauce - Any other names?

Hi all

Back home in norwich my top chinese takeaway does a wonderful, although probably not traditional dish of deep fried chicken in five spice sauce. The sauce is spicey and definitely contains nuts, sort of like a spicier satay but with added flavours. It's thick like proper gravy and tastes absolutely amazing with rice, or chips for that mattr....

However, nowhere in Bristol seems to have it on the menu... could it go by any other names?

Never seen anything remotely similar at any chip shop I've been to. Only satay sauce at Chinese chips shops, but never on the chip shop menu.

It's 100% not chicken katsu, which I also very much like, but is not the same.

Isn't five space practically the main ingredient in the salt and pepper flavour? So could it just be salt and pepper chicken?

is it actually fried in 5 spice or is it just in the gravy? the chinese accross the road from me does Roast chicken & chips, the gravey they use tastes like its got a load of five spice in it

It is much more peanutty than salt and pepper, definitely has some sort of satay mixed in.

And definitely not the gravy as shown there. Blah. I suppose it will a wait until I next go back home to get some
