Uplay blocked by BT Infinity

If it's working on other ISPs but not on BT, then the problem is more likely to be at the BT end.

I'd suspect that BT's filtering is mis-identifying Uplay traffic as something their net filter picks up and blocks. It's not Ubisoft's fault that BT's filtering isn't working properly and is blocking things it shouldn't. It's up to BT to have their filtering work properly, instead of BT claiming that Uplay is somehow not sending the right type of data. That's just a "wrong type of leaves on the line" excuse.

Virgin had a similar problem a few years back when their traffic management was mis-identifying gaming data as file sharing and slowing it down. The two types of data had similar network behaviour, and VM couldn't tell them apart. For a while, VM blamed Blizzard for having game data that looked like file sharing.

Definitely something odd going on - I can get to the ubi soft forums but anything else on the ubi soft domain or their related domains/servers just... does nothing - handshakes at the HTTP level then no data goes either way - just sits there loading. Which would indicate some kind of stateful/"transparent" proxy/filter or something to me rather than a routing issue.

Rather than BT unblocking it, can we just have uPlay scrapped and patched out of any game that uses it?

Steam does everything it does, better.

Its working again now BT must have reverted back to Tuesday's config  nice to know that at anytime an ISP can block essential data I wonder if Steam will be next at sometime in the future if hackers use the same data packet signature to spoof that to overcome the filter blocks :(
