I'm going to be putting my Vauxhall Astra 2008 1.6 up for sale, the condition is immaculate inside and out, have fixed the broken wing mirror and sorted the scratch on the door.

Full dealer service history, still on the first set of tire's, it is MOT' up until November 2014, taxed until November 2014 too.

this is the car

I'm gonna put it up for £4600, does that seem reasonable or asking too much?

Mileage? must be low for it to go 6 years on the same set of tyres - tbh that would put me off a bit but doubt any regular punter will care.

It looks like you might be asking for about a grand too much but it's difficult to tell wihtout more detail. Those cars are anything up to 60k, if it's done more like 20k the theoretical value goes up to about what you're aiming at (though tbh I doubt anyone particularly desires a 20k astra) - just check what's for sale locally, make sure you're a few hundred (at least) under the traders with the same car and be prepared to be knocked down

£4.5-5k looks fine in theory then, just be prepared to wait

Wouldn't you have been better getting the bus or a taxi over the last few years lol?

Lol well i have done 7k miles and ive had it just over a year now, it had 4k when i bought it :p

what trim level is it?
I would say it's priced high - I can't see the low miles making a massive difference on something like a 1.6 astra - if it was a sports car or something special the mileage would make a big difference

There are definitely people out there who will think OMG SUCH LOW MILES, it's basically a new car, bargain

however the op will need to wait for one of those people to come along - could take a while

really? with a car like that I'd be worried about the amount of miles it's done, how many services has it had etc?
Just can't see anyone shopping for a 6 year old astra wanting to pay a good bit over the odds from a private seller, in a very common colour...

loads about...

etc

maybe a dealer could get that with a warranty/piece of mind, but I would say 4k tops

The car just wouldn't register on my radar tbh - but I guarantee for some it's a big plus point

4k more miles but 09 plate and cheaper?
not saying that people won't see a low mileage as good but I don't think it's worth that much, especially when you can get better spec (and still low miles) examples for similar money from dealers

The 2010 one you linked is a category C and the rest are around the ballpark of what he is asking for considering the age and mileage?

Ok so maybe £4400 might be more realistic but he isn't far off.

and most of them are from dealers so have some kind of warranty and offer piece of mind to a buyer...
I just had a quick search of autotrader to illustrate the point - I think it's expensive for the age/engine and sometime low miles can mean more problems!

But good luck to the op

Have a look around and see what similar are selling for ... the bottom has kinda fell out of the second hand market just now and usually checking places like gumtree will score you what your after for almost nothing from time to time as people get desperate to shift themn my sister recently bought a brand new Corsa from the dealers and the only reason she went for brand new was that the second hand golf she went to see was almost identical for monthly payments as a brand new corsa was so she went brand new for more peace of mind.

None of this makes sense
