It's to endure people actually go to the games instead of sitting at home watching on TV. It's also in place to protect the crowds/finances of the lower league clubs. Seems fair to me.

Seems like Martinez has said Oviedo went to the hospital with a clean break of tib and fib. Going to be a pretty long recover but, without double checking, AFAIK a clean break is the best case situation when you do have a break. Apparently McAleny who was on the bench today for Everton suffered a similar break in September. Almost certainly miss the rest of the season but might be ready for the world cup. Not sure what Costa Rica's team is like, if they would risk naming him and hope he'd be ready or if they'd pick someone else. England would probably pick Rooney in a similar situation incase he was available but wouldn't for other less important players.
